If you're in the mood for some good old country cooking this is the place to be. This place gets really busy during lunch for a small place so make sure you beat the line before noon. I ordered the Texas cheese steak on toast it was buttery and cheesy just how I like it. They have really good Mac and cheese too.
I was overcharged due to mystery fees added on to my order apparently you regardless of their menu prices you will pay 50cents for every box or cup as well as a 10% takeout fee which turned my $25 order to almost $33 just in additional fees I wouldn’t have minded if it was disclosed prior but to me it feels as if they made their own prices to make a profit.the waitress was also getting loud explaining my total as if i didn’t have a right to question mystery fees, I made sure to pay the balance before questioning the price so she wouldn’t think I was trying to get a “free meal” because that was the energy she gave me. As a chef I do not respect that, the food was decent though.
Can't believe I just now found this place, it has been in Augusta for a very long time... and I can see why!
WOW is all we could say when it came to eating lunch here for our first time ever.
We both got the bacon cheeseburgers and asked them to add an egg on top. Amazing, this is a REAL hand made patty and grilled to perfection. Added on a heaping helping of fresh cut fries, again... AMAZING.
Can't say enough about this hidden treasure hiding over off Peach Orchard Road, it is try a good experience eating out. Bring the family for breakfast also, I am sure you will NOT be disappointed!
First time visiting. My impressions: older crowd, FOX news type of crowd(see pic #2). Service was decent, and Luke many others said don’t expect servers to check back. The foo was southern style and food. I had Monday special - liver and onion (yes.. minimal onion).
Expect FOX news conversations from fellow diners.
And, gave them a 2 because it is a restaurant and the food was good, but when I had you my card to pay I expect you to hand it back to me and not throw it on the counter!
Will not be back. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Great local family food. Menu said they had been there since 1961. I believe it, the prices can't be beat, hands down the cheapest meal we have had as a family. But that doesn't mean the food was bad either. Food was a solid we liked it and would return. Staff was super friendly and quick. This is most definitely like a southern granny's recipe book. Grits, over easy egg and toast with corned beef hash for hubby's plate. Kiddo had pancake and bacon. Corn beef hash with scrambled eggs with cheese for me. I got biscuits with mine so asked for a small side of gravy. And side of home fries for the table. The biscuits were tasty buttery flavor with more crumble then chew which I prefer. The home fries was slices fresh potatoes that are put in deep frier, simple but good and nary a complaint for the table. The gravy is was ok, pretty sure it is canned or comes from the bulk mix. Overall the food was good, service was great, prices where amazing, and the family all liked it. Would recommend and go back. Always like supporting the neighborhood local establishment.
Great quality and delicious meals in a friendly family atmosphere. My all time favorite is the fried to perfection pork chops with green beans and rice with gravy! Thank you for all the great meals and memories. Our family loves it here ????
Food was okay, just how you'd expect a diner food to be. I ordered Western omelette with the side of hashbrowns and a separate order of hot cakes. Omelette was okay, could've used more seasoning. Hashbrowns weren't seasoned at all and were still raw and hard to the bite when served. Hot cakes though, it was a different story - flavorful and fluffy. Coffee was also fairly good. My bill came to about $12 some dollars which is a fair price for the portion size and quality of food.
The daily lunch specials are always good. I like the Mac and cheese, and the chicken and dumplings the most, problem is, these two items are never available on the same day! The cornbread pancake is delicious as well.
