I had heard the Big Reds was under new ownership and came to check it out. The place was super clean and busy when we got there. Trevor and Lucky (the new owners) both greeted our group and were super friendly.
The food was excellent. I got the 3 meat combo with jalapeño cheddar sausage, Tri-tip, and ribs. Everything was cooked perfectly. The ribs were melt in your mouth tender. Their Elote Street corn paired great along with the Mac and cheese. My kids both got burgers that were delicious and a great value. My wife got chicken and ribs so we were quite full. Great portions. (I took my pic after attacking the Mac and cheese)
Definitely recommend checking them out if you haven't yet or haven't since Trevor and Lucky took over.
Wonderful bit of Barbecue at Big Reds in Oroville. The brisket they only have on the weekends is best I’ve had north of Bakersfield. The burgers and fries are delicious. The loaded Mac and cheese is a family favorite. The elite corn is awesome.
My husband used to love this place! He would hype it up so much to me. So one day we were pacing by and decided to stop by(not knowing of the new owners until we ordered). We walk in and order the food, he said menu still was the same so we decided to see if it’s as good as before.
We ordered chili with tritip, parts of the chili was cold. Seemed like they microwaved it. Taste and texture is different from before not good at all. Since I tried this food for the first time I didn’t like it and my husband was much more disappointed because he had something to compare it to. We also ordered loaded Mac n cheese. Also was not good tasted bland and had barely any cheese, again seemed like it was microwaved. Not happy with our food. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want to come back again. Unless they go back to the way they were before; fresh and delicious not this microwaved box food quality. Picture below for comparison.
Best BBQ in town!! They have a large variety of food on the menu not just limited to BBQ. The Philly was outstanding and the fries are SO good. Husband had the Cowboy burger ( which was made to perfection) Ribs, chicken and brisket hands down amazing!! The kids had corn bread, pork belly tacos, sweet chili wings and loaded Mac. So much leftovers. Everything was full of flavor and cooked with love, you could tell. The restaurant is SO clean, which you can tell that the owners put a lot into this place to make it what it is. Keep up the good work!!
Big Reds BBQ in Oroville is a hidden gem! The restaurant is exceptionally clean, and you can immediately tell that the owners take great pride in maintaining a welcoming environment. The homemade food is absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and made with love. One of the standout aspects of Reds BBQ is the owners’ dedication to their customers—they even stayed open a little later just to accommodate us. This kind of customer service is rare and truly appreciated. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great meal in a friendly atmosphere!
I was so disappointed with our food today. And I say today because I’ve eaten at Big Red’s BBQ many times since they’ve opened a few years ago. I even had them cater my late Husband’s memorial. It has always been great and the bbq sauce was so yummy and unique. The bbq sauce now taste watered down. The Pulled pork today was very oily, not bad texture but some really burnt crunchy bits. The creamy mac and cheese had a gritty texture and not very “creamy.” The biggest disappointment was the “elote street corn” because it was off the Cobb and extremely underdone. It was almost inedible, I mean it was very firm and quite disgusting. The flavor was nothing like street corn. Taste like they threw some mayonnaise in it. My boyfriend went to pick up our food as we called, in our bill totaled about $60 for a 2 meat plate, a cheeseburger, 2 sides of fries because your burger does NOT come with fries and 1 soda. He asked for more bbq sauce because the tubs were out and they brought him 1 little serving size. He then asked for more and they brought him 1 more container. I feel like you shouldn’t skimp people on BBQ sauce at an BBQ restaurant. Unfortunately I will not be going back and do not recommend it.
This place just reopened less than 3 weeks ago with new owners! I have been searching for a tasty BBQ place and i found it! Located off of Oro Dam Boulevard in Oroville. I had the tri tip plate that comes with 2 sides..i got coleslaw and their yummy mac and cheese. The tri tip was full of flavor and so tender! I split the plate and it was plenty for the two of us! I also got the side of street corn....perfect! Sodas and free ice tea( no alcohol). Dine in or take out. Friendly employees. The ribs are probably amazing as well. They are towards the back of a large shopping center where FoodMax and Grocery outlet are located. SERIOUSLY great food in a casual atmosphere. Definitely coming back when i am in Oroville!!!
