1st time we have been here. Food is delicious. Portion sizes are perfect. I did not know this place had bad reviews until after eating (Let me tell you not everyone can be pleased). Our family enjoyed the place and will definitely be returning customers. Staff are very nice.
Panda Express of bento boxes- I liked it! I got Mongolian beef, lo mein, and taro boba. The food was great as a quick meal and quality was above average, not too crowded. It is quite pricey though, which makes sense for the location.
Would not recommend the boba, no flavor at all, but overall it was good
The Shanghi Lo Mein had a tiny sprinkle of chicken that looked like it was chopped up by a 5 yr old. It didn't taste like anything but soy sauce and noodles. I regret wasting my appetite on this place. If you dont know how to cook and eat good, this place is for you.
The dishes we ordered have very good flavors. However, they seemed to be using not quite the sticky rice normally used on sushi, so the sushi easily disintegrate. The kids noticed that their chicken Katsu bowl were also serve in a very small portion (3 small pieces of chicken Katsu).
You know this was no good, because I have pictures to show you what I left. First, I wanted steak and shrimp they can't do that. We were under the impression that it was fresh cooked Bento food. Well, nope, it prepared food that is frozen and thrown in a fryer and tossed with sauce. Even the edamame was horrible. All they had to do is sauté in oil, spices, and garlic. OMG, not good. The only thing good was the crab watons and pork dumplings. Yes, they were prepared and fried. Oh yes, the boba tea was good. Just pour tea over boba. So don't give your money away to this place. It is not worth it.
We’ve attempted to eat here 3 times. One attempt was successful. The first attempt, we were told they were not taking any orders in store because the wait was 30 minutes due to takeout orders even though the store was empty. The third attempt we were told the wait was 45 minutes because they just sat one large party… the rest of the restraint was empty. Unreal.
Update! We have visit med the last few Fridays and the staff was welcoming and polite! Checked on us routinely as well.
I’m familiar with Bento first from my college days in Gainesville.
So when they opened the UTC location and I moved back I was excited! Unfortunately, this location lacks in presentation, customer service and cleanliness.
Every single time I walk in, the tables are sticky with food residue, and the area customers are meant to drop of their plates is always overflowing with dirty plates and cups that won’t fit into the trash can because it’s full.
I’ve been here during times where it is slow, and the employees have time to clean up the overflow of trash but instead they’re doing absolutely nothing behind the counter. No joke: I’ve seen these employees talking until a customer walks in to order something.
I’d like to one day walk into this place and see that everything is CLEAN, and not be ignored by employees when I walk in without so much as a “Hi, I’ll be right with you.”
Ok so I Love bento..: but the prices are insane. My other two grievances are that the restaurant is always slow but somehow always filthy. The floor is sticky and slippery there’s food all over the seats and floor and dirty dishes piled up everywhere. The bathrooms are also disgusting. There was some nasty mess on the wall and I chose to hold it. The other issue is this is not somewhere to come if you are in a rush. I allowed myself 30 minutes to come grab lunch. I came in and waited five minutes for someone to come to the counter to take my order and when that person did come out they were goofing off with another coworker. My food took about 25 minutes to make and deliver and by that point I had to leave to return to work. Presentation was fine food is delish but somehow I find it hard to pay 32$ for a lunch…in a filthy restaurant and with lazy staff. I hate to call them lazy but they move at such a slow pace at lunch hour that I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon. For 32$ for a single meal I’ll be going elsewhere. At least I’ll be able to pee somewhere else without concern of contracting some kind of disease from the wall.
