This place was an average place to stay years ago. Good enough to get some rest and a warm shower. At least it was clean and they had amenities as posted. Unfortunately, the owners let this place fall apart and the last time I stayed here it was awful at best. Smelled, rooms were not properly kept, hardly any water, and the heater didn't work. Lots of unusual traffic in and out of the rooms and hallways at night. Not the best place of you have children. Abounded vehicles that were destroyed left in the parking lot. As of a few weeks ago it would appear that the place was shut down unsafe health hazards. Hopefully someone will take over the place and turn it back into a hotel that it once was before. But for now ITS CLOSED DUE TO.HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS AND PROBABLY MORE!
We tried to stay here. I’m not sure if this place was previously the America’s Best Value? Regardless, the entire place reeks strongly of cigarettes. Everything is incredibly run down and dirty- furniture, carpets, lamps, bathroom. Upon lifting the sheets, which had multiple cigarette burns in them, we found fleas hopping around. Didn’t care to investigate further but I’m sure it doesn’t stop there. We have been driving for 15 hours but just got back in the car because that place is an actual health hazard and should NOT be in business. The worst part is, we left 5 minutes after we paid for the room at the front desk and they wouldn’t give us a refund for it. Please avoid.
Ten years ago this was a nice place. Different owners. Different customers. It’s a place to stay in an emergency, but unless you will fall asleep behind the wheel, drive on to Lamar or La Junta. The local cult church started paying for homeless people who were kicked out of the Colorado coalition for the homeless drug addict center to stay here. Well. It went downhill. Addicts. Homeless. Bed bugs. Stray cats. Fleas. Who knows maybe some herps on the tp. Sadly, it’s not safe anymore much less clean enough to be suitable. Hard pass.

Great place, clean rooms, nice fresh. Loved it.. I love the manager all the people that work there they are great kind considerate thoughtful everything you could look for the rooms are super clean and did I say they really smells fresh.. and to me clean air is is good for my environment clean place I recommend this to all my friends and family who are traveling and strangers Bent Fort Inn don't blink or you'll miss it right around the curve is Las Animas Happy Trails my friends be safe stay cool

Bed bugs. Mice. Terrible smells. Trash always everywhere destroying the platte river nearby. Front desk lady has a 6 years old intelligent level. Doesn't seem real
Stayed here for a weekend 12/10/21-12/11/2021. The room was clean, that's the only positive thing. First of all there's is NO hot water. I turned the hot water in the shower and let it run for 10 minutes. The water got colder. My son turned it on and let it run for 15 minutes thinking it may be a long way from the water heater. Yep still cold. The outlet in the bathroom didn't work. I tried to trip and reset the GFI and that didn't work. The only outlet that did work was behind the nightstand, it was very difficult to plug the coffee pot in and the outlet was not screwed to the box. Had a real cool light show. Heck it sparked pretty good. The radiator gives you 2 temperatures off and HOT, no matter how low the temp was set. OH I forgot, the shower stall is missing 1 tile and quite a few others will soon be in the bathtub.
My 2 cents, find another place to stay.
At first glance the place has a nice rustic feel. There is an ominous odor after you are in the interior. I understand there is new management and I hope this place gets some much needed renovations. It Just felt dirty. The room was ok, beds were comfy and so was the pillow. It took all night to cool off the room as the ac had not been run in some time. When stepping back into the hall, it was EXTREMELY warm as they must not have been running the A.C. inside the building and it had been almost 100 outside that day, stepping back outside was cooler than the interior. The TV was extremely small couldn't have been much bigger than 23", most channels had video issues reminding me of an old antenna feed back in 1980. The pool had not been serviced in who knows how long. There is an attached restaurant, sadly no restaurant staff. There was a Continental breakfast. It was easy enough to find and the manager was nice even though we checked in after 11pm. If you just need a bed for the night it's better than a Motel 6.
