John was amazing!! He came in clutch for our spontaneous bachelorette tattoos. Not only did he get us in but his work is incredible. We love our tattoos so much. Such a chill nice guy and I am so happy that our skin just happened to fall into his hands. He made our day of adventures even more memorable. I would drive back up there (4+) hours to get another tattoo done by him I’m that impressed with his work.
Beneath the Surface is absolutely a place to visit....I love this place....the atmosphere is comfortable,clean and amazing....James did and made my piercing effortless....can't wait til he does my next piercing....John did such an amazing touch up job on my tattoo....I'm about to have John do my next tattoo....James and John are very professional and extremely knowledgeable about their jobs,that's a plus....I can't wait to see these guys again....if your looking for a piercing or tattoo... I recently got a cartilage piercing at a different shop. The piercing was very painful weeks after, I desperately wanted the piercing removed. I saw James had excellent reviews and I must say he exceeded my expectations. He informed me my piercing was incorrectly pierced and the aftercare I was told to do was completely incorrect. He made sure to keep a comfortable welcoming atmosphere and was very helpful in explaining proper aftercare and procedure. Will definitely be returning to re-pierce my cartilage after it's healed !!
James is a great person to work with. I definitely recommend. My daughter loves her piercings. He talked her through the process of what was going to happen, what it was going to feel like and how to care for her piercings. She definitely said she’ll be back for more piercings.

First time getting a piercing from James, but definitely not my first overall. This was by far the most professional but most comfortable piercing appointment I've ever had. He triple checked my double nostril piercing was symmetrical, and let me take my time deciding I liked the placement. Explained the whole process even though he knew it wasn't my first, but not in a condescending way, just walking me through the process so I wasn't nervous and caught off guard. Gladly would trust James with any piercings I get the random urge to get. Highly recommend! Thanks again. Also the shop overall was immaculate.
James is truly the best piercer I have ever seen. He takes cleanliness very seriously and takes his time to explain everything. This was the most thorough and helpful a piercer has ever been. I will only go to James now and I can’t wait to get another piercing. James is truly the best piercer in the area!!
I had my septum pierced here by James. He was super friendly and professional and took the time to explain what to expect and how to take care of my piercing. I'm super happy with my septum piercing and I will be coming to him for all my future piercings.
