The drawbridge, Built-in 1927, is an iconic bridge, spanning the Shark River at Route 71 between Avon and Belmar.
We were there at sunset time and luckily one small boat was passing through so witnessed the bridge opening and closing to let the boat pass through. not a big bridge, the river is just the backwater.
The bridge connecting Belmar and Avon by the sea. if you are at any boardwalk, just walk across it.
Grew up in the area. Great since I was in diapers. Stores have changed of course, I'm 64 now. Still a wonderful place.
Cool place to stop on a bike ride. Good destination, safe spot to rest. Nice view
Went for a site visit at one of Monmouth county's iconic bridges.
Difficult to park, but the view is worth the walk for sunset!
Had a lovely time watching the boats come in. I got to see the bridge raise/lower after about an hour, not sure how often it happens, but it was interesting to see! It seems like a great spot for fishing, since plenty of people were out with fishing poles.
This Belmar Bridge is a very good bridge. I can get on it from other side and drive up the steep hill to reach the top. On top it has very nice views but you can't stop to enjoy the view. Then I go down the other side. I can cross the Shark River and not get wet! I would recommend other drivers to use this nice bridge.
Highly recommend to visit ????
