MY DAUGHTER AND I DINED IN AT THIS RESTAURANT SOME TIME AGO AND IT WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE, I ORDERED THE SALMON CROQUETTE BREAKFAST THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. TODAY, I WAS VERY HUNGRY AND I THOUGHT, ORDER THE SALMON CROQUETTE BREAKFAST. THE DISAPOINTMENT! FIRST OFF, I WAITED AT LEAST 40 MINUTES FOR MY TOGO ORDER. MY CROQUETTES WERE OILY AND TASTED LIKE THEY WERE FRIED IN OLD GREASE, THE INSIDE WAS NOT DONE. THE SIDE DISHES WERE BLAND, I ALSO ORDERED FRENCH TOAST WITH CARAMELIZED BANANAS, THE BANANAS LOOKED AND TASTED OLD. DO NOT PLACE TOGO ORDERS, YOU ARE BETTER OFF DINING INSIDE!
Been waiting 2 hours for food (6:30p - 8:30p).. Busy night but this is ridiculous. Best thing about tonight is the live band. Been here many times and have never had this bad service. Waitress had everyone in our party to write down what we wanted so no proper way to track orders... 8:37p order came and is wrong and cold... Instead of telling me ahead of time they were out of one meat, they brought me out something else and expecting me to pay for it. Not happening! Take it all back...
9pm finally got correct order...
We were dropped off by an Uber, and figure out the now open at 10am, but it was only 9.38
A very kind lady stepped out and offered to go in and wait a bit for the kitchen and the crew to arrive. She was super nice and so was an older gentleman (looked like part of the kitchen).
I would come back any time. Updating the opening time to 10am.
I ordered grilled rainbow trout with mashed potatoes and Lima beans. Nothing on the plate was good. The fish taste like it was old, the texture of it was bad. The mashed potatoes tasted like it had vinegar in it or the gravy, it had a sour taste. The Lima beans tasted sweet. Who makes Lima beans sweet. Oh, and the server was not friendly and didn't give good service not professional. He got an attitude because I told him he forgot our cornbread and then tried to turn it around and put it on me. I will not return.
We went on Tuesday morning. The service was a little slow but it wasn't too much of an issue because we wanted to take our time eating and talking. The food was amazing. The cook came to bring the food and check how we liked it. Everything was seasoned perfectly. You didn't have to add anything. The staff is super friendly. The owners come by and chat with you. I do wish they had honey there for tea or your pancakes vs white sugar (tea and coffee) or regular syrup (which was good). My dad and aunt got coffee and they brought out cups of white sugar and once they asked for sugar substitute or waitress brought it but both of them said they just prefer those options on the table but they will ask in advance next time. I had sweet tea with my meal and it was wonderful. We are definitely coming back. We ordered salmon croquettes to go as well which were amazing. They serve breakfast until 2.
My husband went to Belinda's Southern Cuisine to order some takeout. The young lady behind the counter informed him that Belinda would be coming out to give him the food. When Belinda came out from the kitchen, the young lady pointed to my husband to indicate whose order it was. Instead of handing the food directly to him, Belinda placed it on the counter, despite my husband having his hand out expecting her to pass it to him directly.
As business owners ourselves, we understand that customer service is crucial. This was our second visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately, it may be our last due to this experience. No matter how great the product is, customer service is vital, and customers do notice these interactions. Although the young lady behind the counter eventually handed the food to my husband, the initial interaction with Belinda left a negative impression. Belinda, whether through verbal or nonverbal communication, customer service goes a long way, and we noticed.
The dressing was extremely salty, and the macaroni and cheese was equally overloaded with salt. It was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. If you have high blood pressure, I wouldn't recommend eating these dishes.
The shrimp and grits need more of everything… shrimp, sausage, peppers etc. even though it did look a little dry it tasted great. The service was also great. For a quick brunch I’d try it again since the flavor was on point.
Let me say that Ms. Coco was werking! She was the host, our server, and answering the phone. She was doing a good job with all that she had to do.
Regarding the food, I had the 4 veggie plate. The sweet potato souffle had a hint of lemon that I liked. The dressing however was more salty than savory. I did not finish it. The mac and cheese was decent and the collard greens were good. The sweet tea was super sweet to me that I asked for some water to dilute it.
My husband had the salmon with mac and cheese and broccoli and cornbread. He said the salmon wasn't overcooked and that he liked his food.
I don't feel like we got value in what we paid for. The portion size and presentation are off for the price point that they are offering, in my opinion.
We went on a Tuesday for lunch but I can see them being super busy on a Sunday after church. So if you enjoy southern food, I say give them a try.
