I have been a patron of this local Barbershop since my youth. I was at this location on 11/28/2023 and had my relative Cordell Hodges cut my hair. I am an Ordained Christian Pastor and was provoked and disrespected by another Barber while Cordell was trying to cut my hair. Another Barber by the name of Maurice a light skinned man started a racist rant arguing that "White People" are the Devil the Bible mentions. I had to contact Mr. Becton the Grandfather that used to own the business who has apparently given the shop over to his Grandson Rudy to inform him about this racist harrassment that took place in a local African American business he built creating a great legacy for his family and our hometown community. I was saddened to let that 93 year old man know about the incident that took place on last Tuesday.
Since his daughter and her son left this location this Barbershop has become sour and lost its savor. It's very hurtful and a shame that racist radicals have tainted the beautiful legacy of " Becton The Barber" by allowing racist African American citizens who hate white people to not only work in this shop, but harrass, provoke, and adversely interfere with paying patrons of this business. I cannot support this business based on the nature of this incident neither can I give it a good recommendation, because racial tensions and hatred has done and continues to do the worst damage to not only our communities, but our entire country as American citizens. As a retired severely disabled Combat veteran and former Servant of Duplin County Sherriff's Office I am deeply saddened my right to utilize a family owned hometown business has been taken away from me and my family by a racist person with no understanding.
I've been taking my 9 yr. old son here since his first haircut.. Family owned business and awesome barber's.. We love Mrs. Sally and her son Bud!!
Becton's Barber Shop has been a family owned business for a long time and still is the leader in its profession. I have been a patron of this shop since childhood and still get there when I travel to the area. The service is superb and no other shop can compete at all. They specialize and are expert stylists in any kind of hair.
Best barbers I had to cut my hair.
