This bridge is a work of engineering! To fully experience the Beaufort Memorial Bridge is to regularly cross this bridge on foot. Equipped with a safe pedestrian walk, crossing this bridge during a closure is a wonder. The views from the middle are breathtaking. Look for the falcons nest on the middle pier. The employees are professional as we experienced during our walk. Now the trail from the nearby park connects to the bridge. This bridge connects a nearby marina on Ladys island to Beaufort, downtown South Carolina.
Super cool how this bridge works and it's a very nice walk along the bridge. I recommend doing it around 7:00.
I'd prefer a new fixed bridge that may help with traffic.
Neat old bridge. Key word "Old". Not saying it should be torn down. No, actually I support preserving it. That said, why on God's green earth would 1 sailboat at 6:50 AM warrant opening that bridge stopping 100+ cars for 15-20 minutes. Are there no restricted times? Was that sailboat going to work? I don't know but I take the long way around now.
Has a sidewalk that perfect for runs and walks when the weather is good and comes with amazing views!
Whoever operates it needs to be re taught. We shouldn't have to wait 30 min for the boat to get to the bridge! The bridge starts turning when the boats are miles out. Something needs to be done about this.
They should have design this bridge to be higher, it’s such a inconvenience everytime it opens. I don’t know who it’s that brings there boat through at 10-10:30am but they’re a as$hole doesn’t matter if I leave early or even late I still catch this bridge everytime and it’s ridiculous.
The wait time for the smallest vessel to cross underneath is absurd. Ill be taking the Paris Island Route more often.
