We enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Bear Nook during their opening weekend. The owners are so friendly and the food was full of flavor and love! Exactly what you'd hope for from a restaurant in a tiny town in the mountains. It's the perfect stop for a meal and a smile while traveling along I-80. We can't wait to go back!
Awesome breakfast and great coffee! The owners were super friendly and welcoming too. My husband and I had the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. I highly recommend this cozy place of you're in the area. I felt awful I couldn't tip because I didn't have cash on me. They take cards, but make sure to bring some cash and tip them for their great service.
Great couple running the deli. Nice breakfast prepared to order. The flat top was apparently a little too hot because my over medium eggs were hard. Generous portions of sausage and bacon. Like every California restaurant I've eaten in, they don't know how to make home fries or hash browns. Not their fault as I suspect they have never been exposed to the real thing. The comments from other diners suggest their chili is great. I sincerely hope the succeed.
If you are driving west on I-80 after a hard day skiing and want comfort food, go here. The owners and staff made us feel at home. The burgers and chili were delicious. Try their local spicy sauce and homemade "mountain sauce", an incredible aioli. They even gave us homemade cookies. My only critical comment is that dinner menu was small: burgers, sandwiches, and chili. It didn't matter to us because the burgers and chili were amazing. I hope they round out the dinner menu with a few more options.
We enjoyed a family meal at The Bear Nook on a Sunday morning. We tried almost everything on the menu and nothing disappointed! Highlights include the gravy (it’s on the breakfast burrito which is a delicious, hearty meal) and the daily fresh soups. There’s something about home cooked, small town food that just warms your belly and your heart, right? Stop by on your way to Tahoe, it’s right off the freeway and we’ll worth it!
This cute place is just around the corner from my house. I went in one morning to grab breakfast after looking in my fridge and realizing I desperately needed to go grocery shopping. I ordered the breakfast burrito with the thought I would split it in half with my Husband. It was so good that I ate almost all of it and my Husband basically got 2 bites. One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Next time I'll be ordering two. We will definitely be back.
We stopped by for breakfast and had the Big Bear Burrito, and it is the best breakfast burrito we have ever had!! We liked them so much we got two more to go. Great service, small town quaint little place. Any time we are in the area we will be stopping in for a bite
