Best WLM Reviews
We had not been to the restaurant for awhile. Very glad we returned as the service was terrific and the meals were great too. I had the Fresh Side Salad and the Scallops Appetizer over Cheese potato cake. Their ribs over pasta was a hearty dish. Very good dining experience on this visit.
This is an update on Beachwood. We dined there again with my Aunt and had a very good dinner. Since we are "light" eaters, we opted to each have an appetizer. Their Scallops with Cheese Potato Cakes is excellent. A good portion and very feeling. The Grouper Bites is also very good. A special dessert was the Triple Ice Cream with Caramel, Chocolate and DELICIOUS popcorn. Good service and very nice dining venue.
Went for early NYE dinner 2023 but forgot to post. It was pretty quiet but given the time that was not too surprising. We had cocktails and shared an appetizer, which I don't recall. I had the grouper with sauteed spinach that was pretty good but on the small side compared to elsewhere, and my adult grandson had the lobster rolls, at the time there were 2 but in tiny hotdog rolls with a tiny side of fries. It all tasted good but felt more like a lunch portion. My grandson was still hungry so we picked up a mushroom pizza on the way home! I might try it again sometime but prices seemed high for the portions.
When you spend $100 a person, you expect more and better attention to detail. I hope the manager will read this post and respond to it.
We went Wednesday 5/1 at 6 pm for a low-key birthday based on someone's recommendation and after carefully reading reviews and seeing pics and prices. The place was almost empty and stayed that way till we left 2-1/2 hours later. It's important for what follows.
Those types of restaurants can be hit or miss but we gave it our best shot and were pleased for the most part. We liked the design and can understand how it can be noisy but not that evening. We ordered plenty of food: seared scallops, grilled oysters, crab bisque, fried calamari, lobster roll, macadamia mahi, and chocolate torte plus cocktail and wine. The prices are on the high side but the portions are decent for what we had. The server was pleasant. Some nice touches in the presentation.
However, some things shouldn't happen in a place like that. I ordered an old-fashioned that came with small ice cubes that watered down the drink. I should've asked for a large ice cube but forgot about it while talking. He offered to have me buy another one so I could get a big ice cube... sure. The bartender should know better. Again, not a $5 drink. My wife had wine and liked it.
An overall observation by us, the person who told us about the place, and some other reviewers is that the food was barely warm. The place was quasi-empty and aside from the grilled oysters, our food was lukewarm.
The bisque was probably nuked in the microwave but not enough, it was barely acceptable.
The scallops were good but just warm enough to not send them back, and the calamari were good but just ok in temp.
The mahi was ok in taste but dry and overcooked while the asparagus were not even cooked. The opposite would've been better.
The lobster roll was ok but missed some umami (bland taste). They use frozen seasoned fries served with ketchup. I'll go to a sports bar if I want frozen fries with ketchup. How about hand-cut fries with more interesting sauces instead?
The chocolate torte was ok-ish. The whipped cream barely held together; probably the end of the can or left on the counter, and they use chocolate syrup in a bottle instead of decent fluid chocolate as a finishing touch. This is the last thing that people eat so how about paying more attention?
I know that this is splitting hairs over details but one should expect better when having the restaurant almost to oneself and paying $100 a pop. After 35 years in the food industry in various countries, details matter to me. I don't know if the cooks just didn't care that night or what but lukewarm, under or overcooked is simply unacceptable.
We'll give this place another try during the week and hope for the better but I'll have a word with the manager if we get the same lack of care from the kitchen at that moment.
As my wife and I were really looking forward to seafood for dinner last night, we visited Beechwood.
The ambience is spacious, clean and comfortable. At our request, we were seated in a comfortable booth.
For a starter, we ordered the Chargrilled Spanish Octopus, which came with Mediterranean Hummus and Roasted Lemon Herb Aoili. Octopus is easy to overcook to a rubbery mouthful, but our Octopus was grilled perfectly.
There were many great seafood dinner choices, but we were in the mood for a Crispy Grouper Sandwich, made of flash-fried Grouper, red onion, tomato, seafood remoulade, served with seasoned fries. The Grouper was a good sized serving and not in the least bit dry, with breading that was both crispy and thin.
The fries were nicely seasoned and a good accompaniment.
Our server Vincenzo was responsive without being intrusive. We hope to be seated at one of his tables again.
To be clear and fair to all who are interested, the menu includes "turf" as well as "surf" dishes.
I strongly recommend Beechwood Kitchen & Bar to all who are seeking quality Seafood (and likely non- Seafood) dishes as well. We will definitely be returning!
Location was beautiful and clean. We were surprised it was dead for a Sunday dinner. 3/25. Food just wasn't it. Grilled Oysters texture was so off putting, the bread it was served with was so stale. Rare steak came out no pink. Did not send it back. Short rib and grits was exactly as described, 1 tiny short rib in a pool of very wet grits. Soup was good. Maybe it was an off day for the chef. Our server a foreign gentleman was amazing and attentive. Nicest server we ever had.
DONT LET THE PICTURES FOOL YOU! The food looked amazing yet every dish missed the mark horribly. The risotto was crunchy, the butternut squash in the succatash was crunchy like an apple, the bacon wrapped scallops were overly charred, everything needed seasoning and the worst was the couples cobbler. The fruit was peach, they brought it out and the only thing hot was the handles. The fruit and the cobbler breading was ice cold. This place has potential but for what we paid it needs to exceed expectations!
I was a regular at Flamestone an Oldsmar tradition for superb steaks and seafood. Then I heard the Family opened Beachwood across the Street. I've been going to Beachwood since they opened and it's only got better and better. They experimented with certain dishes it's Primarily Seafood as stated but they offer many options. My favorite on the menu was the grilled Swordfish. It was removed recently to add some newer delights to the menu like the wonderfully presented Ahi Tuna, a must try it's delicious. If your a sushi fan you must try it! I was in great spirits the other night when they offered the Swordfish on their specials. It was presented with a wonderful diced veggie slaw in top with sliced grilled or broiled potato slices below with wonderful flavor and presentation. Another must try is the crab cake it's loaded with crab one if the best I've had. The grilled octopus is also another favorite appetizer if mine as good as anything you could get in Tarpon. I highly recommend Beachwood, they offered sushi at one time and they may bring it back but regardless the dishes here are superb it's a gem in Oldsmar you have to try it you'll be hooked like the fish they catch! By the way check out the ceiling at the bar beautiful decor!

I truly like this place. They did an incredible job making an open concept restaurants giving space to the patrons and not feeling like you are in a crowded room. But isn’t really about the food. Let’s discuss…..

Grouper Bites The flash-fried fresh Gulf Grouper was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The quality was amazing and it was cooked to perfection. The accompanying zesty aioli added a flavorful kick that complemented the dish well. A tasty choice for seafood enthusiasts!
-
Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi: The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the lemon garlic sauce was rich and flavorful without being overpowering. The pappardelle pasta added a nice texture and the dish was overall very satisfying. I would highly recommend this dish to anyone who loves shrimp and is a fan of classic Italian flavors. It's definitely a must-try!

Chilean Sea Bass:. This dish was incredible. The sea bass soft, tender, seared on the outside sliced and placed over the risotto. The dish was served with blistered heirloom tomatoes and the Napa chard beurre blanc that added a delightful burst of freshness and acidity. The saffron risotto was creamy and fragrant, serving as a perfect accompaniment to the rich and buttery sea bass. I was truly impressed by the presentation and the flavors. This dish is a definite winner and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the wow factor.
