Incredible experience and amazing service. Our expectations were high, especially since so many people recommended Bavette’s, and we had such an amazing time. Our waiter (I believe his name was Rich and I’m so sorry if I am wrong) was hilarious and brought a great mood to our table. He was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations to order. We ordered a lot of food… a lot. But everything was incredible. The sourdough bread was the best sourdough I ever had and ohh the strip steaks. We could not believe how good everything was. I appreciated that they let us share everything we ordered and it made the dining experience really fun. I would love to come back here and try to fried chicken. Thanks for a great night!
Wow. We came here last night to celebrate my partner getting into orthopedic residency and we were absolutely blown away. I do wish we had made a reservation as it would have been more comfortable overall to sit at a table, though the dinner service at the bar left nothing to be desired. The ambience is incredible— you feel you’ve been transported to another world at least just for dinner, and can focus on the celebration, conversation, and every bite of food you bring to your mouth. I am not a famous or wealthy person but eating here made me feel like I was. The service was incredible, hands from all over were there to bring our food, special utensils, bag leftovers, and refill drinks. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, especially a romantic one…this is the spot.
The food was great. NOT cheap at all, so expect to spend some money, but I will say that the place was really good. Bavette's was recommended by a friend who went their for the first time and raved about it. We ordered the Classic rib eye, smoked salmon Caesar salad, elote style corn, baked potato, brussels sprouts, and the Bacon roasted tomato salad. The rib eye was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The smoked salmon Caesar was great too. The Bacon Roasted tomato salad was both okay and amazing. The bacon in that salad was AMAZING, but the salad itself was okay. Next time, I would ask if I could just order the bacon. The elote style corn was okay. I would say that this was the least liked out of everything that we ordered. The baked potato side comes with 2 baked potatoes. Great to share with 4 people. The place itself is feels like classy old school steakhouse and is very dark. We were seated downstairs but the restaurant is very dark. We adjusted to the lighting but a little more lighting would have been nice. Great place for a date or for shady business dealings.
I'm left this restaurant speechless. I never knew a steak could be so perfect. Ordered the 42 day dry aged, bone in ribeye, and WOW! The tenderness, taste, crust, my lord. Now, the truffle Mac and cheese, just heavenly. Must try! Great job, to all cooks! ????????
The food and service were great. We had to wait, but they got us in really quick. It's a little dark for my liking, but it's a "steakhouse," so it is on theme. It was a birthday celebration and we had a great time.
A great, intimate steakhouse with amazing food and great service. I came hungry and was not disappointed. I ordered a steak with some bone marrow to compliment and the two large bones came on top and were a great addition. The house sea salt and bearnaise sauce were also flavorful and paired well. I also got a side of the truffle Mac and cheese. It has been a long time since I ate all my food so slowly from enjoying it as much as I did. I made a mistake ordering the strawberries and cream as it ended up being too much for me to be able to finish but it was an amazing dessert with an even better presentation!
The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great meal and really want to treat yourself!
Celebrated my birthday at Bavette’s and everything was perfect. Food, Service, Ambience A+++. Our Server, Erik, took great care of us. He is a true professional with a great sense of humor.

I booked seats 3 weeks in advance because I heard this was the best steakhouse in Chicago. It definitely lived up to my high expectations!
Ordered a lot of food for 3 men + 1 woman. We got the bone-in ribeye steak, 3 steaks were enough for 4 people. The steak was already nicely sliced before being served, and was cooked perfectly. Other than the phenomenal steak, I also loved many of the sides and desserts, including the mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and hot fudge sundae royale. The sundae had so many toppings, so it was perfect for sharing around the table. The wine they recommended went well with the steak. Overall, this was one of the best meals I had during my 4 months' stay in Chicago!
