Best WLM Reviews
My wife and I have talked about trying Barrio Agave many times since they first opened and tonight (5/22/2024) we finally stopped talking about it.
We were greeted with genuine warmth when we entered and told to sit anywhere. I really liked the atmosphere of the place. The decorations were tasteful and the music being played sounded current compared to the more traditional Hispanic music I've heard in other restaurants, which added a lot to the overall atmosphere.
We'd looked at the menu prior to leaving home so we knew what we wanted before walking in the door. The waiter came promptly after we sat ourselves to bring chips and salsa (which was chunky, with lots of cilantro and exceptionally good) and take our drink order. When he returned, we let him know we were ready to order.
I had the El Patron Burrito (chile relleno in a burrito? yes, please!) and my wife had the Taki Burrito. Both came out quickly, although about 1 minute apart, which was a little odd. Regardless of that, the El Patron Burrioto was fantastic and my wife had no complaints about hers other than the size (half came home with us). I'm pretty sure we would order the same dishes again, but maybe me getting the Taki Burrito and my wife going for the El Patron. Our dinner out was $30 and change which was definitely what one would expect for the service and quality of the meal.
We would absolutely eat here again!
First and foremost service was excellent, genuinely seemed like they were happy to have us in their restaurant, smiles the whole time. Atmosphere was chill and enjoyable, good music, good decorations, solid across the board. Now when it came to the food I have to say I was genuinely shocked by how unique and creative it was. Not only did it taste completely different from anything I'd eaten from similar restaurants in the area it also managed to taste the most authentic. So flavorful, portions were awesome, didn't come to fast and didn't take too long. Really seemed like they took their time to ensure we had a great experience, we will 100% be going there frequently from now on!
A time was had here, the vibe and atmosphere was very welcoming. The food was excellent, along with the hospitality. Definitely would hesitate returning…….could say a lot more but just check it out yourself.
Had a great lunch, my taco salad was very good and fresh. The beef tacos were delicious. You get free chips and excellent salsa. I will definitely be going back and taking friends with me.
I was absolutely shocked to hear that they offered a Takis burrito, and I'm more than surprised about how full I was after finishing it. If the rest of their food is as large of a portion or filling, then I'd heavily recommend stopping in to try their food.
The Super Quesadilla and Chicken Enchiladas with red sauce were very good. Need to get that liquor license figured out so we can enjoy a margarita next time. We'll be back ????
It's all right. I was really excited for a new Mexican place after El Tapatio disappeared (that was my favorite in town by far), but I was kind of turned off by the fancy/modern/hip/whatever vibe they seemed to be going for with the promo video and everything. I've been in a few times to try it anyway, though.
The food is pretty good. I typically get street tacos at Mexican places, and theirs are quite good. Not really a fan of the chips and salsa, though. The chips are generic Mexican restaurant chips, but the salsa reminds me too much of tomato soup.
It's about the same price as anywhere else around here. You can get a dinner for $10-15 unless you go crazy.
The servers have all been very friendly, but maybe not the most attentive.
The atmosphere is weird. It's a few metal chairs and tables spaced oddly far apart with some trendy decorations here and there. I get that they're going for a café feel or whatever, but it's not my thing. I wish they had some booths at least.
Overall I'm not that excited about it. I'll probably come back every once in a while to switch things up, but I'm still waiting for another great Mexican restaurant in Rochelle.
Tacos tastes great, the hair that was in ALL 3 of my tacos. I was not a fan of! Didn’t realize when I ordered tocos I was ordering chunks of hair in them! But to add to this on a good note they tasted good…. Besides the hair ????
