The food is good. My husband and I went to Bar Louie a week back and was charged gratuity. I was really confused we have no problem tipping as a matter of fact the waitress was actually going to get more that the gratuity but I asked her about it and she got snappy with me. I just didn’t understand why a table of 2 had to pay gratuity I thought it was a party of 6 or more but it’s fine she got the gratuity but I was not about to tip twice after she got offended that I asked her about the gratuity.
Our waitress was outstanding. It was a Monday at lunchtime and I think she was doing all the tables herself. Not super busy but she was running around a lot. The food was excellent. Loved everything we ate. Prices were fair for the quality of the food. But….there were only 2 of us and we were automatically charged a 20% gratuity. Now…I’m a good tipper and usually go 25% or more when I tip, especially for good service. There is NO REASON a food establishment should force their patrons to pay 20% for a table of 2. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. I didn’t mention it to her because she was great and obviously alone and I did add a few more dollars on but to be honest, I’m not sure I’ll go back just because of this.
We visited this place in happy hours and it was fun. Loved their happy hour menu , their happy hour menu has everything starting from bar bites to wines, beer and cocktails.
Quite amazed by the fast service and friendly gesture during the happy hour evening.
Tried their food menu from the bar bites and I would definitely recommend their flat breads and loaded tots.
Their cocktails are really refreshing and they huge menu if you are planning on dining in the regular hours.
We had 15 people come and get seated in five minutes, great. But how was your waitress unable to know what type of drink we wanted. She didn’t get our orders right and after 45 minutes showed up but didn’t know how to even ring up doubles. This was so disappointing after I’ve been to so many Louie’s and had great experiences. This is absolutely the worse service. When we said that there might be more than the set amount the waitress would not take our orders until we all were there. Again worse service ever. I get it’s hard to take a table that hard with that many people but have some respect and not disrespect us by saying someone had to be seated to take a drink order. I could have been paying for it or my brother but come on. I’d give zero if I could not even given a water.
We were delighted with the atmosphere and food and service at bar Louie, but we were not pleased regarding the mandatory 20% tipping. I find that just ridiculous. Our waitress Shirdarian, was excellent and normally I would have tipped more but because I was forced to tip 20% I left it there.
Great place for Wine and Fine Dining. Went there quite a few times and got served good food and wine with excellent service. I highly recommend. Great place for University of Detroit Mercy alumni and tourists visiting Royal Oak.
My sister's and I ordered apps, drinks, entrees, as well as a few to go orders. Our server was very personable and engaging. Food and drinks came out promptly, no long wait. This is a location that does put a standard 20% gratuity on the bill so that helps to take the guesswork out of tipping.
Nice bar in Royal Oak. Service was ok. I didn't care for the food I had. Menu was small. The drinks were good though. I had a lemon drop.
