Our waitress Terry was amazing! She let us tell her how to make the drinks we wanted and she went and whipped them up and they were delicious ???? the food was also amazing such good bar food for such a good price and they have so many options on the menu!
I grew up eating here and it was always great. After moving away for 5 years, I found myself craving certain things off the menu and it soon became my comfort food place. I love the catfish sandwich and the fries. The piece of catfish in this sandwich was absolutely huge. Always good, the pretzel bun is amazing. When you think Bangor, you don't think outstanding food, but this is the exception. Service is always top notch. Take out or dine in, this is one of my favorite places, time and time again. Such a great bang for the buck too. I don't know of a better value. Recently came here for lunch with my grandma and we both had a great time.
Everything we ordered was not good. Their food has seriously gone down hill. A fried shrimp dinner included 6 very small pieces of shrimp that were just okay, the mozzarella sticks were cold in the middle and not cooked all the way and the perch was disgusting, soggy with a bad flavor. Our service was excellent!! We won’t be back.
There was a huge misunderstanding last night and I’m disgusted by the bartenders behavior. As soon as I came in I could tell the bartender was having a bad day. As we all do sometimes, we are human! I seen she was upset more than once all through the night and I felt bad for her, now I do not. She just so happened to take it out on me and my S.O. more than once in her tone of voice and body language but i decided to ignore it until one incident. Once our food had came, she was setting it down - I ordered a pizza that looked YUMMY by the way, I asked for some ranch to go with it and she rudely threw my plate, fork, napkins down, and shook her head as she was walking away. So, when she came back to the table I asked her what is wrong with her, what’s the matter, because yes despite her being so rude I was giving her a chance to explain her attitude towards us, and for me to understand why someone could be so disrespectful. The way she took it and handled it is what is worse. She took off and went in the back causing a scene talking all about the interaction you could hear her through out the whole bar that the family across for me even heard it going on. As I said before, we are human and we have bad days but never in my life have had such an awful experience out to eat. What makes it worse is I’m 8 months pregnant and just was craving some Bangor Tavern hot fresh pizza and instead I had to take it home and I didn’t even eat it, because I was so disgusted by her behavior. I wanted to walk out and just not eat the food or pay at all, but instead I decided to ask for boxes and take it home, I now even regret that!!!! Oh I also want to add that this “little girl,” as she called me and yelled through out the bar would've gave a nice tip for her having a bad day…… but like I said was huge disappointment of behavior/character and I won’t be back.
Thing's to know: They no longer have a kid's menu so with all the extra fees (cheese, fries, drink) it was $12 for my 7 year old to have a burger and fries. The menu has downsized enormously with a large price increase and low quality. It's the same tired place unfortunately now the service is also beyond mediocre. No smiles, no thank you's, feels like you are a bother. The food had an odd smell and I only took a few bites. Ended up with a stomach ache a very short time later. We will personally never be back and it felt like such a waste of time and money.
The food used to be great and the place was hopping.
Now you never know what you’re getting. Portion sizes change from day to day. Almost every time we order takeout they miss something and we have to go back. The takeout coleslaw you get is literally a spoonful. We go back about once a year and try and are usually disappointed.
Wow!! They have the best wings ever and $1 beers on Sunday . I was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back!! ????????????????
No music and the older bartender lady was not very friendly. The fish was soggy but the fries were good.
