Best WLM Reviews

Great experience. At first no one came to our table for 6-7 minutes which was a bit annoying but then a waitress came and apologized for the wait and said she would serve us. She was very nice and attentive.
The atmosphere there is great and it is a lively restaurant. They have nice indoor and outdoor seating. It is very clean in there.
While they are a bit on the pricier side, the food is good quality. The firecracker shrimp was really good and came with a huge portion. My boyfriend and I both got the pastas. I got the chicken one which we both agreed was better than the seafood one; the seafood one could use a bit more flavor. The plates also came with really good bread which was nice.
I would definitely recommend this place for a nice night out. They also have options that are not seafood.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lobster. I had the cedar plank scallops and, although I wasn’t a big fan of the seasoning, they were very nice. (I scraped some of the seasoning off the top.) The cheesy grits and vegetable medley were wonderful. We took advantage of the BOGO entree deal so, my meal was free! We arrived in time to also take advantage of happy hour for our drinks. The band that was playing was excellent, our server - Tally - was delightful, and we met some lovely people and dogs there (we were sitting outside). It was a very nice experience.
Food was delicious and our server Megan was a delight!
Lots of indoor and outdoor seating available.
The edamame was delicious and perfectly seasoned with garlic. The buffalo chicken sandwich, although resembling a burger with blue cheese, might not suit all tastes. The gumbo appetizer was fantastic, especially after a day of snorkeling and scuba diving at the Spring. The Fish & Chips was decent, while the burger's watermelon on the plate was a pleasant surprise. The waiter provided fast and helpful service, though the bartender was a bit slow. The sports-friendly ambiance added to the overall vibe. I look forward to returning someday!
I've seen the ads for Ballyhoo's and had wanted to try it out. When we arrived, we were promptly seated and given menus. It was nearly 10 minutes before anyone came to the table for our drink order. Once the server did get to us, we ordered a dozen raw oysters as an appetizer. Our main course was a black and blue steak salad and Mediterranean flat bread. The flat bread was nothing more than a pretty bland cheese bread. The salad was all but tasteless. There was barely any blue cheese crumbles on it, and the steak itself had no seasoning at all. As far as service goes, it was slow and inattentive. The tray of finished oysters sat on the table throughout our meal and wasn't cleared until we were getting ready to leave. For the cost, I would have expected more.
Eaten here several times, but never reviewed. Food and service has ALWAYS been good. The Cuban sandwich was great along with the beer glazed pot stickers app. Went back the next day because of issue at movie theater and had the firecracker shrimp tacos. Outstanding!
Ballyhoo's is such a classic Gainesville spot! We went for a family dinner treat tonight and everything was ???? so delicious and the servers were all personable, patient and helpful. The decor is amusing and the atmosphere is fun. I like that you can see the chefs in the kitchen while you eat inside. I feel that it takes a restaurant that is confident in their stuff to show off the kitchen to the diners (if that makes sense.)
The only complaint I have (it's not really a complaint per se because the food is totally worth the price), the prices are high for our family. Our experience was so good tonight that I think we will go more often. FYI tonight I saw that kids eat free on Mondays so next time we will make it a Monday if we have the kids with us! Also I want to eat outside, tonight it was a bit too cold and rainy. Oh, just remembered, they have live music but was canceled due to weather, which was a disappointment. The cedar plank Salmon was amaze!!
I’ve been going to Ballyhoo for years but haven’t visited in a long time. I took my family there recently and although the food was all great, the place is showing a lot of signs of aging. This is the reason for my 4 star review. It is in desperate need of a complete makeover. I’ll still eat there, but hopefully they fix the place up soon.
