Got the burnt ends with smoked mac n cheese and smoked beans as my sides. Did not disappoint. Might just be the best BBQ spot on Louisville. (Burnt ends only available on Fri, Sat, Sun though. Meat was moist and extra tender. Have a go at the beans, they're definitely not your run of the mill ones and are well seasoned. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Seating is adequate. If you like the smell of the smoker, definitely grab a chair outside.
I finally gave this place a try and I was pleasantly surprised! The BBQ rib tips were fresh, tender and flavorful. I had green beans and baked beans for my sides. The green beans were good even though normally I don't like my veggies cooked with vinegar in them. The baked beans were tasty too IF you like ground beef in your beans. I noticed that the kitchen was very clean as well as the dining area. The owner was a very polite guy! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the portion size of the meat for the price of the meal. Overall, they have my thumbs up and I would try them again.
I'm going to start by saying Back Deck BBQ is probably hands down the best I've had in a very very long time. Ribs Burnt Ends Pulled Pork Chicken Wings Smoky Beans everything was absolutely amazing. Even the smoked sweet potato fries were excellent (I didn't try them). The way the owner interacted with us was awesome. You can tell the 2 guys at this place love what they are doing. They make it an entire experience for you. I will definitely make this a go to place when we are in Louisville.
I am not sure what happened to this place. It used to be one of the best bbq places in Louisville, if not THE BEST! Not anymore. At one time I was eating here twice a week, Costumer service has become absolutely terrible. The food quality has become extremely hit and miss and that’s when they even have what you want to order. My last 4 trips here all on Friday or Saturday I have tried to order burnt ends. I’ve been able to get them once after waiting 60 min for them: and they were not tender at all I couldn’t even chew them. Ordered 3lbs and picking through it we were able to eat about a pound maybe and throw the other 2lbs away. I go today. Try to order burnt ends - they are out

Ended up with the driest pulled pork I’ve ever had and some sub par wings. Really hope they can get it back together because when they are on, they are the best around: but they haven’t been on for quite a while
Just visited Louisville for the first time. I searched for a good bbq place and luckily, my family and I were fortunate to find Back Deck BBQ. There was a huge storm going on but even with the doors blowing open and the power shutting off for a few, the service and food were still the best I've had. The service was superb and we were treated exceptional. The wings were off the chain! Succulent and smoked! Next time I'm in Louisville, KY I'll definitely make my way back to Back Deck BBQ.
From the time we walked in the service was not welcoming. The owner was sitting outside just chatting on the phone while there was a long line and plenty of people sitting waiting for their food! There were two young people that was having to take orders, get the food out and prepare plates! Not only did we wait 10 minutes for the girl to take our order but we waited another 30 minutes for our food. The owner NEVER attempted to help the 2 workers which was not only unbelievable to us but another couple that was waiting on food. This establishment could be better if the owner truly took ownership of his role in the success of his business. Realizing that you have to leave a good impression on the customer if you want them to keep returning is key to your success. It seemed that he was too high on his horse to get behind the counter to help his workers whether with fixing orders or taking them, there should not have been two workers that was moving at the speed of a tortoise managing everything. The food was good though, a little salty on the meat but good!
My rib tips dinner with smokey beans and green beans was excellent. Everything fresh, large portions. Suggestion for the pitmaster: please consider making salt and pepper available, perhaps a shaker or two? Hostess provided an extra plastic utensil pack; however, the pepper packs were nearly empty. They could really add to the experience with an improvement to their dining area. The food is so good I believe it could benefit from an improved decor in the dining area. Looking forward to a return visit.
The food was outstanding, the smoked wings are huge and smoked to perfection! Went for $1 wing Wednesday and got 10 jumbo wings and baked beans! Well worth $14
