Best WLM Reviews
We came here early just after opening. The bartender was our server for food. Few regulars at the bar, nobody else at food tables. Bartender gives us only one menu. Sets two cocktail napkins on the table and asks us if we want drinks. We order drinks. As my mom passes the only menu over to me while she dropped it on the table it blew my napkin onto the floor. Bartender comes back with drinks picks the napkin up off the floor and puts it on my table. Really? I ordered the chicken wings oh jumbo they claim because I saw some good reviews on them apparently all those reviews were from 4 years ago. Wings were small dry and tasteless. It says it comes with ranch or blue cheese. Wasn't offered either didn't get either when I asked about the blue cheese he said he could get me some I wasn't sure if they were going to charge me three bucks for the extra so I said don't worry about it. I dip them in ketchup to kill the taste and wash them down The person I was with got silverware maybe because she ordered a dinner for 1895 frozen perch and some lousy french fries I'm sure they were frozen and they were undercooked. Way too much salt. We asked about dessert they had none. Maybe bartender is a good bartender but lousy food server. He was nice he was friendly. Not sure why he had to give us our food bill written on a little piece of paper and not from the register. Didn't ask. But I can assume either the owner wants him to do a certain amount of cash maybe to pay labor.
.. or the bartender was actually skimming from the till. Parking lot looked like shambles beer cans liquor bottles and even a package of rotten turkey ground meat rotting in the parking lot. Only thing nice about this place was the view thank God I sat next to a window and could look out the window the whole time. Biggest waste of $35 this year. So you won that prize. You nailed that. The root beer was fresh and cold. I even got a free refill lol. Again to wash down the tasteless small dried out wings with no blue cheese. I usually tip between 20 and 30%. He got the normal 15% as I stated he was nice but pretty clueless as far as serving food. Maybe drunk rich people don't mind overpaying for mediocre subpar bar food but I won't be returning ever. Should have turned around and went somewhere else the minute I spotted that rotten turkey burger meat unopened left in the parking lot to rot. Maybe it was to draw the rats away from the restaurant.... What a shame place under new management operates like this. This place will never be successful operating like this! ????
I stopped in during a snow storm because they were the only people open in the area. The owners were very friendly folks (we were watching Yellowstone and talking about football the whole time we were there as if we've known each other a while) and we got some damn good burgers for a very reasonable price. Certainly hope I make it back over there before I leave town.
Drive by this location almost every other day as we live in the area. It’s a mess out front, especially since they cut down those two beautiful trees and leave their new ownership sign barely hanging on the fence. Had hopes that there would be at least a clean and organized frontage. The Bread Bar and the Elks Lodge don’t have a problem keeping their frontage nice. Not coming in until we see some real improvement on the exterior. Where is the pride in ownership and our neighborhood.
I used to crave the burgers at Babes. I don’t know who they’ve had in the kitchen the past few months, but they DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SEASON FOOD. I thought it might have been a fluke, so I’ve tried to go back again. Same. Mediocre. Food. The fries taste like nothing except fryer oil in desperate need of changing, the mozzarella sticks also taste like NOTHING. Completely bland. Yes, they’re packed with cheese, flavorless. No seasoning whatsoever. My burger was ordered medium. That look medium to you? This is so disappointing. I miss the food I loved.
Side note: what kind of business owner disrespects the dead by renaming the ONE burger on the menu named after Babe himself. (The McBabe) to the (Mc riverfront) I’m honestly appalled by that simple change alone.
Local favorite place. 2nd generation owner running the restaurant after his dad ❤️ Any burger is delicious, side salad perfect, drinks are on point, mozzarella sticks are thick, service is the best, menu is a bargain and sunsets over the St. Joe river are spectacular- even on a cloudy day. Out door dining, kid friendly.
A great friendly place for beer & burgers. All home made, the owner stopped by twice to check on us. And the bartender - waitress gave us excellent service with a smile. I want to go back for Friday fish fry. Plenty of parking and seating. You can see the St Joe river from deck area.
Food was incredible! Homemade chicken noodle soup made by the owner, Angela, thick New York strip plus 2 sides $24 juicy and cooked to perfection. Large enough for 3 or more meals. I was truly impressed and will return often
We walked in and were directed to seat ourselves. It wasn't very busy. After ~20 minutes without anyone helping us, we walked up to the bar to put in our orders. The bartender asked us what we wanted from 15 feet away as opposed to simply walking over to us. We had to shout our orders at her, because it was quite loud in there. There was a younger bartender who was much more hospitable, but not very attentive.
For an 'off the beaten path' type place, I'm not very impressed with the prices either.
For your information, this place has a 4% """discount""" if you don't use a card. It's posted behind the bar, but it's still sketchy.
