My husband and I waited in our van for Bob to come back from his lunch break. He drove up and talked to us outside. We told him we needed a commercial conversion, went over what we previously discussed over the phone, he took our information, then never called us back. I called him once to see what happened. He said he was still working on it and we never heard from him again. Our business wasn’t wanted. ????
I bought my spinner knob, mobility scooter and lift through locally-owned Auto Assist, after checking out snd being disappointed by a nationwide company. Auto Assist installed the knob and lift, and provide excellent service on all three. When we had a paraplegic relative and his family visiting from out west, Auto Assist provided the rental van to accommodate his large motorized wheelchair, enabling them to see all the DC sites they wanted plus attend his grand-uncle’s 100th birthday party in Baltimore!
I needed a lift installed in my trunk and I called Auto Assist, Inc. They ordered the lift, came and picked up my car, installed it and delivered it back to me the next day. Bob showed me how to work it in a very understandable way. And as a bonus, he fixed the turn signal on my car!
Bob Kitts is absolutely the most professional, nicest, and most knowledgeable automotive person I've ever met. I will go to him again if needed and highly recommend him to anyone.
The man that answered the phone was very rude. I asked him the condition of the van, was it clean? I then asked the man if I changed the dates would I be charged? The man then became irate and said, "Won't you call back when you're ready, I don't have time to be horsing around" I then told him I was asking questions and making sure before I'm charged a fee to cancel. He then responded sarcastically, "You can buy the same van for $65,000." This man should obviously not be the one answering the phone. I will not be doing business with this company. If this is the initial representative of the company I want nothing to do with it. Imagine how it would be if I dealt with them with the van.
I have been going to Auto Assist and Bob Kitts to repair my Honda Odyssey VMI Northstar wheelchair accessible minivan since 2008. Bob is an absolute gem. He provides customer service that is so outstanding it is hard to believe. He has literally dropped everything to fix my car and get me going again more times than I can count. He called me back in Virginia while he was in Arizona at a VMI continuing education conference to spend an hour talking me through a problem -- again saving me from a total disaster. When I broke a door bracket, he spent two hours over his lunch hour rebuilding it for me and taking parts from one of his rental wheelchair vans -- so that I would not have to be dead in the water for a week waiting for parts. Bob absolutely loves to repair things and takes the time to think through and diagnose a problem. Not one of the other area dealers who deal with handicap vans have 1/20 of Bob's knowledge or ability. (I went to them all before I found Bob in desperation). Bob is more than a simple mechanic. He is more like the Car Talk guys in terms of his encyclopedic knowledge. He takes pride in the quality of his work and empathizes with how serious repair delays and problems are for a handicapped person. Just days ago, I was delighted to take delivery on my new 2013 Honda VMI Northstar from Bob. I have complete confidence that he will stand behind me and the car 110%. This world would be a better place if more people were like Bob.
Bob is such a wonderful guy. He took such great care of me in finding me a new accessible van that would meet my needs and sold my previous van. He goes above and beyond in all that he does. I have dealt with many accessible van places in all my years of driving and I have never found anyone better.
First complaint - The guy asked me why I needed adaptations. And looked at my body as if implying he didn't think I needed it!
Second complaint - He left my car keys in the cup holder and left the new car unlocked unattended . He then shut the doors and locked us out of my car. When we asked him to pay for a locksmith he said it wasn't his fault and refused to pay for unlocking the car.
Worst place ever. I will never come back or recommend this company.
Needed to have on/off switches for air bags installed in our vehicle for medical reasons. They did an excellent job, very nicely installed. Great to deal with. They take pride in their work.
