We stopped by on a road trip and wanted to try authentic New Mexican food. This place is basically a diner. The chile they are known for is good but nothing out of this world. Customer service was great though! Pretty busy restaurant with tourists
Stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. We ordered chips and salsa, which the salsa was delicious! I ordered the Carne Adovada burrito smothered in red. Rice and beans are extra cost. Sopaipillas are good. Service was good. The food was good.
We LOVED Atrisco's Cafe! We visited Santa Fe from Southern California and we were really looking forward to some fantastic New Mexican cuisine. The problem is that we are vegetarian, and we've had a really difficult time finding suitable New Mexican food, since almost all restaurants do not offer vegetarian options--until we found Atrisco's.
Not only did Atrisco's offer vegetarian options, but their offerings were mouth watering and prepared expertly. This was one of the best New/Mexican experiences we've ever had.
We ordered 2 beers, chips and salsa, sopaipillas, the vegetarian especial enchilada, vegetarian especial stuffed sopaipilla and a kid's cheese enchilada with a side of beans. What a meal!
The veggies especial included mushrooms, zucchini, yellow squash, red pepper and green pepper, and they were busting with flavor and still tender crisp. We've had vegetarian Mexican food that tasted like stewed vegetables because they were so overcooked, and they included broccoli and cauliflower for Pete's sake! These are not veggies that say Mexico or New Mexico.
Even the tortilla chips were extraordinary. They weren't oily, and were a bit thicker than your normal chips. The corn flavor in them was remarkable. The salsa was medium spicy, chunky and oh so delicious! YUM!
We had the sopaipillas with local honey that was on our table. The cinnamon flavor really came through without being overpowering. The honey was so thick and flavorful that you could taste the wildflowers that it was made from.
This was a top notch experience and I highly recommend you try Atrisco's. You won't be disappointed.
Had the stuffed sopapilla Christmas, it was yummy. Red chili just enough spice, and the green chili was flavorful. Large portions, shared a meal with chips and salsa. It was plenty of food. The service was friendly. Highly suggest if you want to get away from the tourism. Location in a local mall, but don't let that discourage you from this place. Checked all the boxes for our expectations for new mexico cuisine.
Reasonably priced food but what's so good and that place that made me and my wife come twice to dine in is the staff. They treat you with such genuine friendly hospitality, this restaurant really felt like a home away from home. There was a wait on both occasions but the system in place is so convenient, you give the name and number and you wait for a text. A must visit if you want to try South West, New Mexico cuisine.
I'm always on a hunt for chile Rellenos and I found my new spot ???? they are AMAZING!! My enchiladas were delicious full of flavor with a decent amount of heat. The red enchiladas were great also, I'm extremely picky with my red chile and it had great flavor and heat. Will definitely make this place a must visit when I'm in town.
This was my first time at Atrisco's. I went with a friend. We shared a beef/bean burrito and a garden salad. Pretty good. I order a Frozen Watermelon Margarita. I accidentally knocked it off the table... it was close to the edge. They did not offer to bring me another one. I requested another one. I would not order it again. I prefer Santa Fe Bar and Grill way more than Atrisco's.
The food was really good. The red and green chili was good don't get me wrong it just wasn't the exact new mexico taste I was craving, it was good but something was missing. Their a little skimpy on the cheese. My cousin ordered me a fried egg to my enchilada and I loved it! My sister ordered their flautas which were good but over crispy and their salsa, sour cream, and guacamole cups for the flautas were small just enough for mabey one of two flautas. It could be because we came in late that we didn't get the best service ???? I did love their sopapillas and margaritas ????overall the food was good I would suggest that they not be so skimpy on their condiments and cheese.
