Best WLM Reviews
The food tastes so clean and fresh. It’s like somebody grandma is back there in that kitchen. Love how nothing is greasy or over seasoned. Bake chicken falling off the bone. I felt so good after eating like it’s healthy soul food. Definitely coming back again to try more items on the menu!
Now THIS is Soul Food! I was looking for my granny in the back???? The Food is always good. Even if I get it delivered by Uber Eats. They still take extra care and making sure your food is fresh. I love this place. My picture really didn’t do any justice, but the taste is sensational and the peach cobbler. It’s the bomb and I love the corn muffins. I love it all.!!!!
I have been going to Annie Laura’s for the past 5 years and when I tell you their food has never not been 100% delicious!!! Even after I have moved when I come to this side of town this is one of the places I try my best to get a plate from!!
Annie Laura's used to be the best! My catfish was too salty, the mac & cheese nor greens were good. They are still drive thru only!???? I guess they have run their course with me!????
I’d like to start off by saying that this was my third time trying this place. Last time was about a year ago, two months ago, and then yesterday. The line wasn’t long as it was later on in the day, with about three cars in front of us. The lady who took our order seemed like she just wanted to leave, which I don’t blame her. But besides that, she was quick and efficient in taking our orders. I got the smothered pork chops with rice along with collards and Mac and cheese, with a lemonade as the drink. The pork chops were pretty good, but not better than homemade in my opinion. The collards had no seasoning, and they didn’t drain out the juice or whatever you wanna call it, so pretty much the collards were getting onto the other food. The Mac and cheese was super soggy and had no real flavor; Kraft Mac and cheese is way better, in my opinion. The cheese tasted fake, and the noodles were crunchy. The rice was good; nothing extraordinary or amazing to say about that. Oh, they also added cornbread that was pretty good. But my favorite was their lemonade, 100%. I haven’t tried anything else on their menu, I’ll admit, but this specific menu item just wasn’t for me. In my opinion, it’s overrated and overhyped and doesn’t taste like genuine home-cooked food; it tasted like something straight out of a can, and they just heated it up and threw it on the plate and called it homemade.
I ordered a ribs dinner with pork collards and mac n cheese and the turkey wings in a mushroom gravy with rice, stuffing and lima beans. The ribs were delicious! I mean finger licking good! The bbq sauce was excellent and the ribs were tender. The greens and mac n cheese were good, but they needed something extra to take it to the next level. The turkey was well seasoned, but the mushroom gravy I could tell came from a can and nothing extra was added to elevate the gravy. If using a canned product, it can always be jazzed up to elevate the food, and if that happened with the turkey, this would have been next level. The lima beans and stuffing were solid. All in all, solid food but can be even better with a few special touches.
I cannot complain about the $5.00 Kids Veggie Plates - they are filling with the added benefit of offering a healthier option over many fast food meals, but I am definitely not happy being assessed a 20% service charge just for ordering 6 or more plates! And you boldly want a minimum 15% tip per order to boot, with anywhere from a 30 - 90 minute wait in line after ordering your food before you get it!?! My tipping etiquette is that I generally base it on the service received. 15% may be reasonable for waitstaff at a sit-down restaurant, but your establishment is still not offering such service post-COVID. Asking for a 15% minimum on takeout with the ridiculous wait time in line at your establishment is unreasonable, in my opinion.
I ordered from here through Uber Eats to see what the hype was all about due to the constant wrapped around line. I bought the kids meal (2 jumbo chicken/2 sides) and a pork chop plate. The chicken tasted regular. No special taste at all. My sides were turkey greens and macaroni and cheese. The pork chop was good, not really seasoned but it was fine and cooked well. The collard greens were not seasoned at all. No salt , no pepper, not even vinegar. I tasted a bit of sugar too …I had to spruce it when it arrived. The macaroni was decent. The cheese was a little bit too smooth to a point where it tasted fake but it was still good.I also got the PORK collard, it tasted plain as well. No different from the TURKEY collard. I bought a side of yams as well . The yams were sweet like I like them but it was a tad bit hard. The lemonade (country time ) peach punch tasted fine as well. Overall the food was good but it is very much overhyped in my opinion.
