We were on our way to Dallas and that's when we decided to make a detour for an authentic Mexican food place! We found Anita and our experience was great. The food came out right away and it was delicious! We got the carne asada and the Tex Mex dinner enchiladas! I definitely recommend it
The lady that took my order was such in a hurry to get off the phone I was thinking, maybe the place was just busy I got there to pick up my daughters nachos literally five burnt chips with some meat thrown on it and they call that nachos. Looks nothing like the picture online The lady told me it’s because I ordered it to go. That is the reason it looks like that I will not be back
Then I go to tell her that I will leave a bad review online due to her service and she said that’s fine. You can go ahead and do that.
We have stopped here multiple times while traveling through New Waverly and unfortunately the 1st few times were MUCH better than any other time. Barely found a place to sit since almost all of the tables weren't cleaned with the dirty dishes still there. The fajita meat was not very good with very small meat pieces and not seasoned. Just nothing like it used to be:( Asked to substitute Pico with cheese and got charged for it. Asked for a few jalapeños and got charged for it. The meat to put in the queso smelled very old. Too many other options out there so unfortunately we won't be back:(
The burrito was covered with gravy... or Velveeta or some kind of queso? It was very blah. Had chicken and steak. Meat taste was barely ok but the gravy killed it. Fresh salsa was ok. Hot sauce had some flavor but really lacked heat. The burrito really was just subpar and the cheese gravy killed it. Service was good though. Saved it from a complete 1 star review.
Food and service was excellent! One of the best chimichanga I've had. Husband said his Supreme burrito was really good, also. We shared a choco flan and a regular flan for dessert. Both were yummy!
We were sorely disappointed that Anita's did not live up to previous glowing reviews. I've eaten at many mom and pop establishments, as a matter of fact we go out of our way to find them. This was one of low points in that search.
The service wasn't awful but it wasn't very good. Slow on refills, tortillas delivered 5 minutes after fajitas. Child's meal served 10 minutes after everyone else's. Other servers did ask after our needs a couple of times.
Food. Long wait. Fajitas were not served very hot. Menu descriptions misleading. None of it tasted very fresh. Much of it tasted slightly of stale oil. The enchilada gravy looked homemade, but just didn't really taste good. Those of us who had crispy tacos got soggy tacos.
It was a Monday night and the first day of school. The place filled up with locals. I'm not sure what they see in the place. Hopefully if you decide to try it you will have a better experience.
Food was delicious, service was wonderful. We had breakfast items. ONLY minus was a bit of a displeasing smell when we first entered. BUT I'M DEFINITELY NOSE SENSITIVE.
We will come back.
It’s what I would call the feeling of old Mexico. Food is delicious and the staff is over the top friendly. I had the Texas burrito and my wife had the tortilla soup. We will be back.
