Best WLM Reviews
This was our third time staying here and we have had an excellent experience every time. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. It's nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and friendly are what I look for in a hotel. I also find the prices to usually be very reasonable as well. Oh, and the indoor pool and hot tub are really big and my kids absolutely love them! Overall it's a great choice when visiting the area.
We needed a place at the last minute and walked in. Their staff was polite and detailed. The King Bed room was spotless and very comfortable.
Spend the extra money to stay here. We found it to be worth it and would like to stay again.
*Edited because I had spelling errors. ????
This is a fantastic hotel we went at the end of February and the hotel was super clean hot water for the whirlpool. Bed was soft. Breakfast was above average. Enjoyed fresh fruit and waffle and yogurt. Cereal for the kids. Definitely would recommend this hotel. I’ve stayed at over 30 rooms all over the Midwest and this one was the best so far!! Clean polite relaxing nothing wrong love the pool and hot tub too.
My daughter and I took a I took a staycation to Saugatuck as we had never been. Based off TripAdvisor, Hotels.com and Expedia we settled upon this gem, When I call it a gem, I use this term loosely. Upon arrival we thought it was clean and tidy and believed the reviews. However, as we unloaded our belongings, we quickly realized that cleaning wasn’t the hotels strong suit. There were hairs in the shower, a purple and pink sock left in the wardrobe closet and a black bathing suit on top of the wardrobe closet. There was no microwave in the room either. We didn’t plan on utilizing the room for much other than sleeping, so we let it go and set our stuff down and proceeded to our first adventure. Later we came back around 9 after dinner and exploring. My daughter decided she wanted to check out the hot tub and pool. The room was humid, and lacked the normal chlorine pool smell. As we entered the hot tub we didn’t feel the heat that should have been there, and it lacked working jets. The pool itself was like a bathtub with lukewarm water. After about 5 minutes we found several bugs (ladybugs) in the hot tub and exited the area. We went back to our room and went to take showers. The shower had little to no water pressure and as we attempted to turn the shower on the water spout almost broke away from the wall. The water was either scorching hot or freezing so we constantly had to toggle between hot and cold. Given all this we still managed. The next morning we went down stairs for breakfast where the options were limited to sugary cereals, waffles, 2 muffins total left. 1 sausage, enough scrambled eggs for 1 and actavia yogurt. We ate and got ready for our day and left around 9:30-9:50 am to head downtown Douglas. The shop my daughter wanted to stop at was closed and we had reservations for a cat cafe located in Grand Rapids. So we made our way there instead. It was around 7:15ish when we returned to our hotel. Upon arriving we seen the same car with the same dogs in it that we left earlier that morning in the same spot since the day we arrived. Proceeded to the door where we discovered our keys were deactivated a gentleman that was coming outside as we were entering loud us in the building we made our way up the stairs only to discover that our keys did not work at the door either. My daughter sat with our goodies that we have bought throughout the city that day by the door waiting as I went down to the desk and advise them that our keys were not working. I had questioned why the key would just suddenly stop working when we had paid for two nights. The first gentleman had proceeded to say that it look like it was only set for one night, and the other proceeded to say sometimes they randomly deactivate. I had asked the gentleman if anybody had been in the room to clean the fact that usually on your roster if it states one night, they clean the room they had stated no to begin with. Upon entering our room, it was clear that somebody had entered it as the trash was missing (not upset). as we began looking at our room, we noticed things were off if they came into clean why did they not straighten up the pillows clean out one trashcan that was filled with tissue or take all of the towels from being at the pool the day before out of the room? I went to the area where we had left our medication and hygiene products and noticed that the three $100 bills were missing from the TV stand. I proceeded to make my way downstairs because they had already told me nobody had been in the room. Upon doing so , I was greeted by the gentleman as before. One stated that if I did not put a do not disturb sign on the door that they were allowed to enter an exit as much as they needed to keep the room clean. The other stated that they had just took ownership at 2 PM that day. The conflicting statements were very hard to figure out what was going on. I asked them to review their camera as there was one just outside the door of our room, the one gentleman decided to call the manager/owner and asked me to speak to him. At which time I believe the guys name is Ruhi advise me that his wife went into the room and clean it and didn’t need my permission not to go in. I advised him that $300 was missing and he said if you’re going to accuse my wife call the police , and that’s what we did. After the officer reviewed the room, he noted that a woman was in and out of the room for about 15 minutes at one point did she exit the room a bundle of towels that she quickly placed in her cart. He does not see her, entered the room with any new towels, nor does he see her exit the room with any trash. He does not see that she utilizes any cleaning products also. At this point he states that given the fact he cannot physically see her stealing the money there is nothing he can do . I proceeded to go downstairs and ask them to refund me for my entire trip due to the entire inconvenience and feeling unsafe it’s staying the location. They advise me that they are not going to do that because it is not their fault that somebody stole the money out of our room , after a small scene with several guest and potential guest of me stating I’ll file a civil lawsuit and will be writing a review happens, the gentleman begins speaking in their native language on the phone and agree to refund the entire stay payment only after all of my belongings are out and they can check the room. When I say, I would give it a star rating if I could , even as zero would not do justice. These people are clearly thieves, and feel that they shouldn’t be held accountable for their employees. If them not refunding the entire stay and other guest cancel their reservation in the moment don’t speak as to guilt, stay, but I advice you to take all your personal belongings with you.
I have never in my life written a review, but I felt this deserved one. Do not stay here. I booked a room for my daughter's 10th birthday with the promise that she could have guests. Within an hour of booking my reservation I was told by the front desk that I could not have any guests. So I cancelled immediately. My money was never refunded. Not even the amount with their policy of the cancellation fee. I've tried calling over and over and keep getting the run around. I still have not received my refund.
You would never know this is a 2-Star Hotel. The property is exceptionally clean. The Staff are super nice. The bed was comfortable. Overall experience was very pleasant. I would stay here again if I am ever in this area again.
I’ve stayed at this hotel two years in a row for the Wassail festival at Virtue. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are some of the cleanest I’ve seen. Great prices too. All in all a good location.
Hotel is okay overall. Furniture is mostly old fashioned and outdated. They also charged $35 as a pet fee even for ESA pets. That’s the biggest fee I’ve ever seen. However I travel a lot. So overall it’s overpriced and not worth for money they charge
