Awesome authentic Mexican food. All hand made. The fajita beef has a slight bbq flavor. My wife enjoyed the #8 lunch special fajita beef taco. I had the #7 lunch special. It was fantastic. The service is fast and friendly. It may be a 50 minute drive for us but this is now our favorite Mexican restaurant. They do have outside seating
It’s an older restaurant and building that could use some serious updating, which I understand is easier said than done, but the food quality was excellent and so was the service although it was obvious our server was spread very thin. The lunch specials, at just $5.99-$6.99 are a DEAL, with over 12 combo specials. I had the normally hard to find but very traditional “Mole” with pork and J-Lo had steak fajitas quesadillas, both were delicious. We also ordered an order of guacamole, it was substantial and chunky with great flavor. The exterior with bars on the front door-windows might make you think twice, but the authentic, flavorful mexican selection is worth trying.
Had lunch and the food was great, the salsa and queso were spot on! The service was quick and friendly. Great experience!
I used to love the fajitas before but now they don't taste too good. If you arrive at 4 pm they will make you wait until 5 pm to get the specials. I was there around 3:30 and had to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes just to get my order in. Then I had to wait about 45 minutes to get my cold tasteless food. I asked for lemons and never got anything. I asked for tea and never got anything. I got up to ask cashier and she said waitress will be right with me. She never did. When she brought out the check she gave me and my friend a bad attitude and walked away. It was one of my favorite places but now it's one of the worse. Your better off just buying ingredients at publix and making Mexican food at home.
I love driving here to eat! The food is authenic and delicious! I do not mind the drive knowing that I will be satisfied and have never been disappointed with my orders. I will upload pictures next time, hopefully! ???? I was raised on their style of cooking, and I so enjoy it.
I visit every time I crave Mexican cuisine. Which is and comes any time of day. No matter what I select, it comes out that kitchen piping hot and fresh with a taste out of this world!
I do not dine out at Alvarez. I love their love of cooking and the atmosphere.
This is not even remotely authentic Mexican food. The only thing tasty was the homemade tortillas. The food was bland and the chicken we had with our fajitas was burnt. I should've taken pictures but was hungry after waiting a while for the food to come out.
I've been going to this restaurant for years; always been a favorite. Very tasty & authentic food. Unfortunately today my order wasn't up to par. I asked for no raw onions on top of my enchiladas...got home.. covered with onions. Something has also changed in the "regular" enchilada sauce...it had a sweet almost sugary flavor...maybe just a mishap in the kitchen. Also always got a small bag of complimentary chips & salsa with my to go order in the past...I guess they don't do that anymore...the waitress said she would have to charge. me....ANYWAY.....IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE A GO TO PLACE...GIVE IT A TRY...YOU'LL LOVE IT.
Alvarez Mexican Restaurant is a gem in Palmetto. The food is fresh and tasty, especially the fajitas and guacamole. Reasonable prices and a welcoming atmosphere make it a great dining experience.
