Beautiful place! We tried the avocado toast with a perfectly cooked over medium egg. And the veggie sandwich which was piled high with fresh veggies and a delicious thin egg! The cold brew was generous for a medium and caramel in flavor! The earl grey tea was delicious and aromatic! We will definitely come back and are excited to try the empanadas, tamales, chilequiles and tacos too!
As I was waiting to go to a local estate sale this morning (I had a 2.5 hour wait), I Googled a nearby place to have breakfast. I stumbled across a really nice spot in Hyde Park (next to the Hyde Park Arts Center), Almendro Cafe. I had the avocado toast and coffee...so delicious. It's a great place for breakfast/brunch food, beautiful ambiance and a nice art gallery next door...a recommend. ????????
Cute space. Staff seemed nice enough. However, I asked for a hot oat milk latte and received a lukewarm beverage. I thought to myself “I didn’t even hear the espresso machine.” So, it appeared that they gave me an old drink. I asked for it to be re-made and I’m pretty sure it was made with almond milk instead of oat. The smoothie was sub par, not very smooth. And the veggie sandwich was bland.
Beautiful atmosphere. Calm and peaceful, clean and chill. Seems like a cool place to just sip and reflect on life.
Food and Coffee is pretty tasty too. Double wins!!
I've lived in the area for 20 years and have seen a few places come and go out of this spot. Almendro has had the best food and atmosphere. Very homey and the empanadas are great. Pasties and salads look wonderful as well. I'll be back and we need to support this place. It's the perfect mom and pop and we really need more spots like this in the area. The Mexican coffee is wonderful and after losing the Argentine Cafe this is the new go to.
The ladies here are so kind and lovely. So many food and beverage options. Everything I had was delicious. Very fair prices for the city.
I'm addicted to their avocado toast and peach tea. I would eat here every day if I could.
One of the best cafes I've been to for my short stay near the lakeshore hotel. They have a wonderfull selection of breakfast sandwhiches that will leave you very satisfied! I really started to miss the warm delicious poppy seed muffins ????
