Best WLM Reviews
Alejandro's is inside a little market in the shopping center and features a small restaurant as well as the ability to see workers producing the fresh bread products (similar to watching the cooks at In and Out). There is a small dining area for eating, fountain drinks and of course FRESH tortillas! The food was good although under seasoned compared with similar food establishments in the area but enjoyed regardless.
As to the tortillas which seem to be a hot topic in their reviews, I've now purchased them on multiple occasions and can say that some of the peeling is relative to how freshly you want to eat them. If I try and open them same day I get a great deal more than if I wait a couple days. Also microwaving the pack of tortillas for a small amount of time seems to help a lot if you're trying to eat them same day. That being said I didn't have a horrible experience like others claim to have and the taste is great--don't forget to warm on your stove before eating!!
Love this place. We originally went here because a Sonoran hot dog truck owner told us this where he buys his hot dog buns. But the things in their Bakery are great too. Probably a little bit too good. Help is friendly. Rest of the store is small and has a variety of canned goods and a small meat market, which we haven't tried yet.
Don’t buy the tortillas. They suck. I ended up with a bunch of tortilla scraps since they all got stuck together
I come here for my empanada fix and I'm never disappointed!
I bought these from my local grocery store expecting quality and taste. Unfortunately, these are baked with cheap fats and preservatives just like all the other big brands. The ingredients include BHT and dimethylpolysiloxane…..the family should be ashamed of what their product has become. I’ll stick to my local Mexican bakery.
Had our first meal here a few days ago. Tried the calamari, red chile burro enchilada style, carne asada tacos, beans & rice. Everything was delicious & it was the best red chile we've had in Tucson! Service was excellent as well! Going back tonight & can't wait!
These used to be amazingly good tortillas. Now they all stick together and tear with any attempt to separate them. I would gladly pay a few cents more for some sort of paper divider between them. Will no longer buy them and will make sure to spread the word. It’s a real shame.
Just an update: Of the 10 or so in the large flour tortillas package I was able to salvage 3. I believe they were $4.59 at Sprouts. So, that’s about $1.53 a tortilla. No thanks.
I've been buying prepared masa here for over 10 years with no problem. This year their quality has gone way down. My girlfriend and I both purchased 20 lbs each and it was awful. It was grainy and with chunks of lard that wasn't blended in well. One of the batches was too runny to put on the hojas so I had to add Maisena and salt for a useable consistency and mix more. I am very disappointed and will not buy from them again!
