Best WLM Reviews
I love this place I’ve been coming for decades. I do wish they would bring the wings back on the menu but if your looking for an old school good hot dog place this is your spot. Also cash only no credit cards.
The hotdog and fries were good. If you crave a hotdog they aren't a bad option. The ratio of hotdog to bun was a bit high though. You're going to eat about 3-4 inches of hotdog without any bread or condiment because it sticks out past the bun that much. There is good communal outdoor seating. There were a lot of people when I was there and I felt comfortable with the seating situation.
I've seen the sign from RT 8 many times and decided it was time to stop in and test them myself.
I was greeted by Paul who was working the counter, very friendly after careful study of the items available I placed my order and processed to pay with my plastic...sorry cash only, glad they had a ATM machine on site.
I believe it was a $2.00 charge.
I found the hot dog cook to where there was a nice snap to it and not over cooked, the toppings good proportions, and a nice touch of bacon on top. Curly fries flavorful without any oily residue, very refreshing Black and White shake.
Overall I liked this place glad I stopped and will stop again.
I recommend Al's Hot Dogs, just remember CASH Only.
In a state loaded with great dog places, Al's is average. I've been a couple of times with the same results. I ordered a Texas dog (Chili, cheese, jalapenos) and onion rings. What I got was half a chili cheese dog (the other half just extended on each side from the undersized bun), with a small amount of chili buried under a ton of cheese whiz and some canned jalapenos on top. The bun is literally half the size of the dog. After eating half a plain dog from each side, I got to the rest, and the chili was just hard to distinguish. The onion rings were nice and crisp, but on the whole, there are too many other great dog places to settle for average.
Everything I had was good, except the burger. That was very good. I had the cheddar jalapeno burger... if you have the jalapeno fried up even better. I took my son with me the last time we were up that way, and he was just asking to go back. He liked their chocolate shake and hamburger. I will definitely be back.
Got their chili dog. Their chili is browned beef in marinara sauce. Server was nice. Would not ever go back.
Drab inside and not very friendly on our last visit. Outside eating is much better. We don't go that often, but when we do I get The Bulldozer Burger. Not a bad burger!
Delicious Hummel hot dog served on a panini pressed bun! Yum! Their spicy relish is delicious
