Best WLM Reviews
The service staff members are very kind, the service is great, and the food is awesome but a bit pricey. The place is not much of a dine-in place... it's definitely more of a place for take-out or delivery! Must try the Beans & Plantains Dinner, Egusi, or Jollef Rice! Street parking is not that bad most of the time.
This is my 1st time coming to this place, & I will say that the young me. Was very nice and informative of any and ever ? I had for him. However, the food I order wasn’t the greatest to me. & I mean in taste wise. The presentation look like Nigerian food, But this will be my last time going there. I will go to the other African restaurant I typically go to. I guess the old saying is true, stick with what you know.
Great addition to the southside i love african food. Meat was a tiny bit tough though otherwise great selection
Went to the Taste of Chicago and African Food Palace was a vendor. The line was so long (which I thought was as a great thing), but when I received my food, the Turkey leg was hard as a brick. The jollof rice tasted like liquid smoke (or maybe whatever they were using to keep the food warm). The Egusi soup (wasn’t even enough to eat with the fufu) was placed on top of the Jollof rice (never had it like that before), so imagine, it wasn’t soup. I gave two stars because the fufu has a good texture, and the Egusi (wish it was actually soup lol) has a good flavor, but I was disappointed. I may give them another try at the restaurant, just to see if this is really how they get down or not. The Taste of Chicago was a great opportunity for them to showcase their food better. But we’ll see, I follow up with another review once I’ve tried it at their restaurant.
The cashier was really nice. The food was not nice at all. The beef pie was bland, but not nasty. The amala was okay. The plaintains were okay. The Banga soup was horrible with 3 pieces of tough meat and an oily mess, I gave up trying to break apart and chew. It was overpriced for the small portions given, and the food was not good. Maybe it was an off night. It was only one person cooking. However, I will most likely not return. I was truly disappointed. (The beef pie isn't in the pics, I ate a few plantains. I tasted the banga and stopped eating, this was all they gave me.)
I had HIGH expectations. I was sooooo excited I didn’t need to go up north or to bloomingdale IL. 35th street is also an option but this was closer. The food was oily and the plaintains (idk what it was). There was no flavor. The best part was the plain white rice. The young women that took my order was very sweet. I order egusi soup. Under the chicken was basically more OIL. Sadly I will not visit again.
I typically don't feel compiled to call the attention of bad experience in this way. But this place takes the cake.
I have to say this is the worse African restaurant, I have visited.
First they are over priced, the goat meat is as small as the pinch of two fingers. The food is not tasty and the facility are still behind on the electric processing.
We almost got over charged. And to make matter worse, we waited over an hour for the food to get prepared.
I don't recommend you go here if you don't want to waste your money.
Very very disappointed.
They should be ashamed of themselves for the small pieces of meat they give for the cost they charge. They were good to charge 18 dollars for a Tilapia fish that cost less than 5 dollars.
The food was decent. I got the jollof rice, plantains and the whole fried tilapia.
