I met my mom and friend for dinner and we didn’t finish our food and got to-go boxes. Food was good and service was okay. I even mentioned how the place was one of my favorites.
I tried my food when I got home and there was a metal piece in it! I asked my mom to look at it and I decided to contact management. I was told there was nothing they could do since I took it home and he “didn’t know if I put anything in it.” The manager offered me another meal which I declined since I was unsure if I would get more food with metal in it. I let him know it was about how unsanitary the food is and I wasn’t trying to get a free meal since my mother paid for all three meals anyway. I let him know that I would not be coming back ever again after he accused me of planting a piece of metal in a meal I took home from the restaurant he manages. I would have liked to see it handled a different way, maybe offering my mother her money back for a terrible meal she paid for. I would not support or suggest this restaurant to anyone after the way the manager spoke to me today. Very rude and unprofessional.
Weirdest thing happened at Abuelita’s in Shawnee, Oklahoma. I shared my sisters meal (we do this a lot because we always have left over food if we order separately) and my husband didn’t want anything. My niece and her husband each had a sopapilla. They brought the bill at the end and it had a $19.96 “set up charge”. We asked what that was and they told us they charge 4.99 for people who don’t order food. Now, had someone told us this in the beginning we would have either ordered something small or agreed to the charge, because why pay them for something we didn’t get. But we weren’t given that choice. I’d be okay with it if we had been told about the charge. There’s no mention of this charge on the menu, the entrance door or the wall. We asked the cashier about it and she had nothing to say, she just looked mad that we questioned it. We asked to speak with the owner but they said it was his day off. ????
I ordered the chicken enchiladas. I tired to order the combo enchiladas but I guess that’s not on the menu anymore, so the person on the phone suggested the chicken. I thought the price for the food was really fair, but the quality of the food is what you get for the price, which wasn’t very good. My enchiladas were poor quality and covered with cheese sauce, not even melted cheese. The chicken inside was not seasoned. The rice didn’t taste seasoned and the refried beans were very clumpy. I didn’t finish the refried beans or rice. Usually when I order enchiladas they come with lettuce and tomato and sour cream, not cheese sauce on top. The chips and salsa were good. And the queso wasn’t the worse I’ve had, but definitely wasn’t the best either. I don’t think I’ll return here.
The food was just okay. I ordered the taco salad. I asked for no meat. It came with no meat like I asked, but there was just a TINY bit of lettuce and tomatoes, a ton of refried beans like soup, and a tiny amount of guacamole. It was not good. I've never had a taco salad with almost no salad. And I did pay full price, even though no meat, which was okay; however, they could have put a little more salad to make up for no meat. The good part was that the waiter was amazing. We were in a large group, and he was great. But I wouldn't go back.
The food was exceptional on this day. The service was fast and friendly. I felt the prices were good and worth every penny. Our waiter was friendly and met every need. We'll definitely be back
Staff is polite and ready to help with anything you need. Food is reasonably priced and good. Service is good and food comes out fairly fast depending on how busy it is but still not waiting for a long time.
We just got done eating here for mothers day. Worst experience. There were 7 of us, he brought us 2 straws. I had to go to the counter to ask for more since he didn't hear us asking for more apparently.
I also had to get up and go ask for limes for my son's carne asada tacos that he didn't bring even after we asked.
My oldest liked his burger. My mom's steak fajitas was cold. My husband's chicken nacho Supreme was bland. My chicken Verde was good, the beans are bland but real beans and not canned, so that was good. He never came back to ask if I wanted another bloody Mary.
He brought us 2 lemonades even though only one person ordered one, and he tried to charge us for both.
This was the worst experience I've had eating our in years. We will not be back.
This restaurant is our favorite place to enjoy a Mexican shrimp cocktail. It is served in a cold glass beer type mug. Loaded with cold shrimp, fresh avocado, pico. Very good. The food menu is good. We rarely eat anything but the cocktail. Highly recommend this cocktail.
