Came here to fix my radiator. When I received the car back, my radio was no longer working. I brought it back to have them check it out and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it, yet it was working before I came here. Radio hasn't worked since. Unfortunate because I almost went with another shop but they seemed nice. Will be filing a complaint with the BAR.
Help in a dire situation
This review is long overdue. Pre COVID I rolled (literally) to A&C Auto with a huge screw stuck in an almost deflated tire. I had my young children in the car and I needed to get the tire patched asap.
I approached the garage bay and asked for help. The lifts were full and everyone was busy. Frank immediately came out to inspect my tire and went to work removing the obstruction and patching the tire. He did an excellent job and I would ride on that tire for another 10k miles before replacing the entire set.
This could have been a lengthy fix in an area of SF known for not being safe. Frank could have charged me $$$ for this emergency patch job but he did not, instead charging me the regular fee. I appreciate this man and his honesty.
I used to go to this business for years. I found the owner to be very kind and had all good things to say for years.
That being said, it has now been a few years since I used to go to this shop and have found that many of the part replacements that he did I am now needing to redo. For instance, I need to replace my ball bearings for a second time and they have only been used about half of the general expectation of time. I already had this issue with rotors and brakes as well that he replaced around the same time. He did split the rotors and brakes with me the second time I had to get them fixed, but I am now having to do the ball bearings again. It may have been a vendor issue, but in the end it was a costly issue for me.
I brought my car there for headlights malfunction. The place says electrical diagnostic. I pay the guy $150+ to find problem. So Frank says he will order part on eBay. Schedule for next week. If he can't fix it , he said he will give me my money back. I told him, if he can't fix it I'll take 1/2 my money back for putting in effort. My car is fixed everything is good! I recommend this shop to each and everyone of you. Thank you Frank. God bless you ????
I brought our car to A & C for an emergency brake job back in March. I waited around for 30 min while dropping off the car just to talk with someone and explain the underlying issue. Picked up the car later that day and spent $900 in parts and labor, only to then continue to have issues with our brakes. They were closed over the weekend (and voicemail was full), so I took the car to a different shop for a 2nd opinion on Saturday where they quicky identified a damaged brake adjuster which was causing the shoe to lock up. Disappointed that A & C either a) didn't identify this issue; or b) caused this subsequent issue. I'm not even sure they did a test drive after doing their work.

Finally found, an actual affordable Honest mechanic in Sf. They are quick and thorough with diagnostics and repairs. They clearly defined the scope of work that needs to be done and prioritize it to which repairs are more immediately needed. Have taken two cars to them so far and both are back in tune.. they even caugt a couple of issues where other mechanics have done a poor job..i was referred here by a neighbor who also has multiple vehicles and a budget.
