Horrible uppity attitude. Doesn’t return messages. Then told me he’d listen to my truck and then said “im not sure if I want to work on it” As if a 03 ford was too much for him to deal with. I won’t be recommending their services ever again to anyone I know.

Had a great experience here. Tom and team were knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. I brought in my ten year old Suzuki to look at a transmission fluid leak, which I had been struggling to find service for since Suzuki no longer sells cars in the US... Tom evaluated it, including driving it to get a full picture, and let me know that it would likely be difficult and expensive to fix, and that fixing it really wasn't necessary as long as I kept an eye on the fluid levels. And after taking quite a lot of time to look at it, he didn't even charge me! I spent nearly $200 for another mechanic to look at it and tell me they weren't sure how to fix it, so this was above and beyond my expectations. I've had several experiences with mechanics who oversell me thinking I don't know anything about cars, and it's a relief to find someone so honest and dedicated to customers. I will absolutely be back for any auto needs in the future!

I drove down from Summit County in hopes of finding someone who could help me with a transmission/drivetrain issue. Made 10 + calls to multiple shops. Everyone was 2-weeks out to even look at my problem.

I got ahold of Tom by chance. He said to bring the truck by and he would take a drive with me.

We took the drive, Tom immediately suspected what the problem was.

Pulled the truck in, changed out the parts (that he had in stock)

I was a bit frightened to see the bill!

When he gave it to me, I was in shock,

I was expecting at least double what he charged me. He said he found some other things needing attention, I told him to please proceed. Then he told me that he was 2-weeks out as well…

He simply stopped what he was doing to help me with my critical issue.

The owner Tom and his employee Joe were very helpful when I needed a new clutch assembly. They walked me through each step of the process and explained the cost of parts and labor, and the work was done quickly at a reasonable price. I would definitely work with them again.

I highly recommend this place! I had a problem with the gear change mechanism (not the transmission), and Tom fitted me in right away to take a look at it for me. He needed a few hours and even gave me a ride home while he was diagnosing the issue. He managed to pin point the problem and told me it would require him to order some parts. The parts came in but in the meanwhile I traded in my car for a new one.

I called Tom that I owed h some money for his time, expertise and kindness. He told me “no charge” and that he was happy that all worked out for me.

What an amazing service. If I even have issues again in the future, A1 Transmission in Golden will be the only place I’ll go to!

I took my car for a complete transmission flush a few months ago. A few months after the service, my engine light appeared with a transmission code. So I did a transmission fluid flush myself. The transmission fluid was extremely dirty and the plug had a significant amount of metal on it. No way a few months of driving would have caused this. It appears the flush never took place.
