Awesome service and always willing to support the community events..
Their service is transportation, specifically to and from the heavily Dominican neighborhoods of Washington Heights in NYC and Lawrence in MA. They also provide door to door service, something I have not seen from other transportation services. Their door to door service is very popular but I don't believe it's scalable though since they already have issues during high demand seasons where they may decide not to provide this service.
Their customer service is lacking. I was expecting to be dropped off at a family members home, which they have done in the past, but they never informed me they had temporarily halted their door to door service. (Same price!!!) I received the news at the bus stop, and had to make calls for someone to pick me up.
They also don't seem to have a system where they record customers reserving a seat, if you call "too far" out (in my case 4 days prior) they will tell you to call 2 days before instead. For holiday seasons of high demand one would hate to call then and not have a seat available.
Either way, as I said, transportation they provide, customer service, not so much.
Overpriced and uncomfortable, their not even playing safe with this COVID that's going on, They cram as many people in as possible in the bus or Van. it gets worse each time! idk how their business is still running they charge you 60 even if you get dropped off Hartford CT which is between Massachusetts and NYC doesn't make sense ...esta jente son uno bueno ladrones ..now their not picking up people on certain days and u gotta meet them at the office and they still charge u $60 and their not even dropping people off in front of their houses smh.. ridiculous how they still charge you 60 ..their rules changes all the time

Been using 5 star for years ...all the way back 2 the old Ford vans... they have made big changes 4 the comfort of they customers...taller, cleaner, reliable Mercedes Van's with standing room...yes they are # 1 for a reasons...gracing 5 star.....el bori santiago...
As a regular customer that uses 5 star Transportation I would say it has its ups and downs. Depending on the area that you are going to there are different types of service styles. For example, if you are going from New York to Lawrence you would have to be at the bus stop earlier than the time that they actually depart because sometimes they leave early and most definitely without you unless you have to keep calling them. Whereas if you are going from Lawrence to New York they can pick you up for a certain price. For me its 5$ extra. Usually its $40 to be dropped off from the station. If you want them to take you to a certain destination you must pay extra depending where you want to go. Now when it comes to comfort I can say that usually it's alright but not the best. Your in a small seat in a 12 seat bus (usually) for 5 hours+ or less depending on the time. They do make a food stop where you go to eat some food and pay the bus driver. Usually the food stop is half way through the trip so at least you can have a break. One thing that they do somtimes is drive really fast. I know they try to reach there early but i get so anxious. I would say somtimes I have problems when it comes to communication with the buisness but in general you have to specify with them. But all in all it saves money in your pocket. But if you want a more comfortable experience it's worth a little more money.
This review is for both the NY and Lawrence, MA offices. Business is run in an unprofessional manor. Rude and unprepared drivers.
They do not wait until their scheduled time to leave. If majority of passengers are at the office early, they will leave without you despite of you reserving a seat for that specific bus. The last time this happened to me, i was scheduled to leave on the 4pm bus. I called the office and told the man that I was arriving at 3:40. The man said "ok, we leave at 4." When I got there, the guy casually told me the bus had left and the next bus leaves in 3 hours (as if this wasn't a big deal). They did the same thing to my father. He showed up 45 minutes before the departure time, and they left without him.
Drivers are unprepared and rude. They are not good problem solvers and do not care about their passengers. Last time I traveled with Five Stars the driver was not sure were the destination of this one passenger was. This passenger was clearly new to NY. The driver got frustrated and said he was going to leave the man on a random corner and that he could call a taxi from there even though this gentlman did not know much english. My father tried to help the driver and suggested that he use the GPS, but the driver did not know how to use the GPS. My father then offered to help him and also suggested a list of other ways to figure out where the gentleman's destination was, but the driver was not willing to solve the issue at all. All the driver said was that he was tired and he wanted to hurry up and get home to sleep. My father told the driver that he needed to have patience when doing this job, and the driver yelled at him and told him to be quiet. At this point, the driver was arguing with everyone on the bus. This says a lot about this company. I would definitely NOT recommend leaving your kids or anyome who might not be able to get around on their own in the hands of these people. They act like if they are doing people a favor instead of running a business. if you argue with them and point out where they went wrong, they apologize, but in a " I don't really care, and this is how I run my business" kind of way.
