Best WLM Reviews

Imagine, if you will, a restaurant adorned like a quaint fish shop one might find by a sun-drenched bay. Pictures of fisherman posing with their largest catch of the day adorn the walls, a subtle reminder of the journey the food takes before landing on your plate. Here, I embarked on a culinary adventure guided by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
My main course was a revelation – a white fish burger! This succulent patty, perfectly cooked, was nestled between fresh veggies and a soft bun. Accompanying this was a revelation of another kind: tater tots, delightful little fried potato morsels that proved surprisingly addictive. A special sauce, its flavor both tangy and creamy, elevated both the burger and the tots to new heights.
But wait, there's more! A side of fried shrimp arrived, each piece boasting a light, tempura-like batter that yielded to the tender flesh within. Alongside them were an assortment of lightly-fried vegetables – a delightful textural and flavorful contrast. The same wondrous sauce served with the tots proved equally delightful with the shrimp and vegetables.
As for my companion, they embarked on a journey of their own with a crisp, chilled wine that perfectly complemented the seafood feast before us.
Everything, from the impeccably fresh ingredients to the perfectly cooked dishes, spoke of a deep respect for the ocean's bounty. The staff, ever-attentive and brimming with knowledge, ensured our exploration of American seafood was a resounding success.
So, if you find yourself in Chicago with a yearning for the taste of the sea, I urge you to seek out 3rd Coast Fish Bar. It is an experience that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you yearning for more.
I would not eat here again. The oysters had no flavor and were watered down, I think they were frozen and still dethawing. The potatoes were overly fried and very hard. Unfortunately I had some of the worst tacos of my life. The whitefish was good but the mix of bad ingredients and just a sad sad soggy tortillas was not pleasant. The tacos came out full of oil and as I picked it up they immediately fell apart. Nothing was seasoned!! It was just wet and gross. The margarita for some reason was also unpleasant- I watched the more seasoned staff show/tell my waitress how to make it for the first time and no one even checked her, tasted it, nothing. $150 on this dinner and for what?? My poor fiancé was in the toilet all night after this meal. The one thing I will say was good was the clam chowder it was delicious nothing else.
Happy we stopped by for dinner one night here, we had walked by it so many times. Our server was outstanding: very passionate about the food, knowledgable, and helpful. We got some soup, ceviche, and some fish sandwiches which were all delicious and filling. I’m looking forward to trying it again. The space was cute, and we got a cozy booth in the corner. The only downside was they didn’t have any bread pudding, which we were looking forward to trying. Hopefully it’s available next time!
When I came here in August, I was the only one opting to eat inside. With everyone eating outside, you'd think the long counter-like thing you sit at to eat and order would be free of crumbs. But it wasn't. I ordered the Crabby Patty, which I regretted after 2 bites in. I didn't realize it would be deep-fried instead of pan-fried. The breading was thick and the crab filling was mostly flavorless. Or maybe the crab flavor was lost from the breading and oil. Either way, I finished the $20 sandwich begrudgingly. Crispy potatoes were good, though, and server was very nice.
Enjoyed the happy hour. We got Aperol spritz, osters and beer. Super quick service and refreshing food. I got the white fish (pictured) with caper butter. Sooo good. Highly recommend!
I honestly thought this was going to be a fair deal… instead it was a rip off…
What does honest weight really means? That’s what it reads big on their walls outside of the establishment. Instead… well… you can judge yourself by the picture. The thing is… when I got the manager to come out and check my “lobster” sandwich and asked him where was the rest he literally didn’t let me finish and told me that was the way it is and turned around… ????????‍♂️ that’s first quality customer service.
I feel bad for our waiter tho… he was a nice kid and overwhelmed. I guess it’s the manager responsibility to make sure he’s not understaffed but that’s what was happening so the poor guy kept messing up the drink orders… that wasn’t the matter honestly it’s the manager arrogance to not contemplating the fact that the fake lobster in my sandwich was too little and not according to what they were charging… however fair to him and down to the exact correct weight apparently… other than that… am not coming back here ever. My two stars are for the two staff outside taking care of a corded terrace while the manager was comfortably inside chatting with the “cook” or basically the fried guard since everything seemed to be deep fried and that’s about it. Highly debatable this is fresh fish… NEVER AGAIN
Food here is pretty good but would recommend getting takeout as the service was extremely slow. We were sitting at our table looking around for 10 minutes before someone finally came up and asked if we wanted waters. Then we waited another 10 minutes before waters arrived. The only time our waiter interacted with us was when we flagged them down. Besides that, we just watched them walk around doing other things the entire time. We waited 15 minutes for a box and had to ask 3 different people. Waited 20 minutes just get the check. I would put this on the entire staff and not just our server. Everyone we interacted with would say they would get us something and then turn around do something completely different. I will say that the lobster roll seems overpriced. But overall, all the food was pretty good. Would eat here again, but never dine-in.
Came for lunch on a Saturday. Fun vibe. Great service. Unique dishes. We had oysters, beat salad, crab cake sandwich and calamari. I'd order everything again but the crab cake. More cake than crab imo.
