Got all these parts replaced at a decent price. Staff is very friendly. Would really recommend.
One day I noticed this place leaving home and returning from work. I was excited to see a auto repair place that was so close to home; as I could drop my vehicle off then walk to the el quite easily.
I first tried the place earlier this year for pads and rotor replacement. The guys were nice, competent, fair and fast! I picked the car up later the same day, test drove it, no squeaks and stops on the dime every-single-time.
A couple of months pass. I took my vehicle to the local Oil Express on 38th and Western (you can read about that disaster on Yelp). A couple of days after the oil change my parking attendant noticed a puddle under the car. I check it out, it’s oil. I check my levels and sure enough, damn near BONE DRY which shouldn’t because I JUST got the oil changed. I took it to 39 Auto next day, explained what the problem was, even wrote down instructions on their paperwork (see attached photo).
Around early afternoon, I receive a call and the mechanic is just throwing out a whole laundry list of problems and items needed. I say, wait a minute, let me write it down. I really couldn’t understand him, so I asked for the total figure. He states, “$1,870”… I was BLOWN away to say the least! How can a simple oil leak cost this much especially one that is a catastrophic!!!.. I ask him to give me the cost of the oil related items, he says, “$1,174”… I’m still at a loss. So I tell him I will call back later. After gathering myself. I call back and request a copy of the invoice so I can see EXACTLY what they mechanic is quoting. He send me a actual picture, which is some writing on the paperwork I initially written on. I take this information and call my usual go-to place (which is a lot further from the house, which is why I chose to try 39 Auto). Needless to say, the quote I received back was approximately ½ of 39 Auto @$665!!!... I even pulled numbers from RockAuto as a comparison (see attached photos).
Now, I’m looking side-ways because they are messing with the church’s money! HOW are YOU going to charge me $380 for a freakin oil pan???? Then an additional $145 for the freakin gasket!!??.. Rocket science this stuff isn’t!... The pan is a solid piece of metal with a plug (nothing special), the gasket (which you have to change as well) is common material, felt, plastic, etc,. One would simply unbolt the oil pan and associated gasket; toss that; then install the new just as easy!!... A pan should not cost no more than $50 ESPECIALLY dude to year of the vehicle! The gasket shouldn’t cost no more than $10!... REALLY DUDE!.. They must have thought they were going to get over!. I knew I needed an oil switch, than cost was roughly $80 which is $30 more than my past quote. Next came a list of total un-necessaries: Front Seals $420, Power Steering Pump $196, Power Steering HOSE $130 (REALLY!!... A hose DUDE), something else for $390 and lastly a valve cover gasket for $140!.. REALLY?!.. I knew that wasn’t need because the leak DID NOT occur where this gasket is installed!
Needless to say, I picked up and ran the hell away. The next day I took it to my original spot, the ONLY items needed where the oil related items which I got done the same day and at a faction of the RIDICULOUSNESS I was quoted at 30 Auto!
Moral of the story, If YOU have absolutely ZERO experience with cars and repairs than STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!... I’ve owed a car since I was 19 years old. They thought they were dealing with a rookie, now lookie-here!!.. Ladies and Gents even if you DO have some knowledge I am STILL very cautious of an recommendation to this place! I don’t want any unsuspecting people to be taken from their hard earned money!

Filled with hard working, motivated and caring employees. They are very trust worthy and educated, every time I’ve went here I have left more than satisfied. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC work, if you aren’t sure where you want to take your vehicle, take it here and you won’t be disappointed.
Took my car in for new pads and oil change, they did a fantasic job at a really good price and got me out the shop fast. highly recommend!!
The mechanic here is the best. He is honest and cares about his customers. He saved me a lot of time and headache.
