Do better =)
Was my comment I left on the receipt. There was a total of 5 of us. First off it took 8-10 mins to be seated and the restaurant was maybe 1/8 full. And no one was in front of us. We placed our drink order she brought it out we placed our food order. 50 mins later, 3 of us had no drinks left and still no food, we haven't seen our waitress. I stop a waiter and told him we've been waiting almost an hr an we still have no food and some of us need refills. He told us he'll get our waitress. Several mins later she comes and checks on us and tells us our food will be out shortly. I asked her what she considers shortly. She told us ours is cooming out. Took about another 10 mins. My husband ordered the adult grilled cheese and he said no fries because he has a shell fish allergy and they fry shrimp. Our friend wanted fries, so he goes well I'll take the fries but can you place it on another plate to give to her. She said that's not a problem. We'll when his food showed up the fries were on the plate with his sandwich. When you have an allergy and your consistently paranoid about how things are made and a simple request of placing the fries on another plate isn't difficult. She knew it was suppose to be on a separate plate because she goes I'll go grab another plate so you can transfer it. Umm no I'm sorry he can't eat this. We're not chancing it. So she said she'll have them make a new one, I asked well how long is this gonna take? She said she'll get it done immediately. She also forgot my ranch, so i asked her to bring that as well. The manager comes out to inform us that they fry the shrimp separate. You never know if accidently something gets dropped in there, things happen we don't want to chance it. I then ask him how long does it normally take to bring out food with the amount of people here because we've waited for an hr. He told us, that he saw us waiting for over 40 mins. His statement was there was 10 orders that came in at once and they do them in order. But we ordered before other ppl were even in the restaurant and they received their meals before us. The manager had stated that our waitress said we never told her that my husband had a shell fish allergy and also stated we never asked for the fries to be on a separate plate. (If you're a manager you don't make these statements to your guests)
So it took another 20mins for his sandwich to come out. At this time the waitress hasn't been by I'm out of a drink so I walk up to the bar and grab a refill. Because I'm tired of waiting. The manager comped the sandwich and gave us 20% off, that was nice of him.. All of our food was luke warm, my fries were soggy, the best thing about this place was the ranch and the bartender that got my Dr. Pepper. We left a 5% tip our friends left a 5% tip. We left a cash tip and like I said I wrote on top of our receipt Do Better =)
We were walking out and the waiter the one I asked about drinks and food comes out fast walking to us and told me excuse me that was really inappropriate and rude. Umm EXCUSE me. He starts to walk away from me and I walk with him and told him what was really rude was waiting over an hr, he interrupts me and starts to say that he's the one who trained her so I told him it sounds like he needs to be retrained as well then.
We weren't the only table wondering where our food was at.
Needles to say if you have an allergy beware that they don't take your allergies serious and make sure you know that no one takes accountability for their mistakes. (This is one of the reasons why we don't trust that ppl don't have accidents and fry things in the wrong fryer) Also my husband didn't get a spoon so he cavemaned it like a trooper. And you can see from the pictures there's not that many ppl dining. So if you choose to go after reading this review I hope you have better service than us.
UPDATED 1* REVIEW FROM APRIL, 2024:
Wow, we had likely the worst restaurant experience last night at 35 Brew Street. We made reservations for five of us at 9:00 PM. We were seated at about 9:05 PM, about a third of the restaurant's tables were in use at that time.
Our male server was friendly enough, but seemed incredibly unsure of himself and jittery the entire time. We placed drink orders, and eventually received a round of waters for the table, and a few minutes after that the other beverages we ordered were delivered. We placed our food order at that time. One of the members of our party ordered pretzel sticks as an appetizer and specifically requested that they be brought out first. I ordered the "Knife and Fork burger, well-done."
About twenty minutes later, our server checked in to see if we needed drink refills. I requested another water, and another member of our party ordered a second drink. It was about another twenty minutes until we saw our server again when he brought the water and drink.
At 10:05, an hour after being seated and after the restaurant was technically closed, we did not have any food and our server was nowhere to be found. A member of our group went to the host podium to inquire as to where our server and food was.
A manger then came out of the kitchen and immediately started making excuses about how the kitchen was backed up, there was a concert that night (which had started two hours earlier and was still going, so that made no sense as concert-goers were not there and hadn't been there for hours), etc. I politely suggested that instead of making excuses that the manager could start by apologizing for the bad experience we were having, at which point he did apologize and attempted to make things right.
Our food did come out a couple of minutes later. Unfortunately, this didn't resolve our issues. The pretzel appetizer which was brought out with the rest of the food had ice cold spots in the center of the pretzels. My burger which had been ordered well-done was somewhere between raw and rare. The bread on the Ruben sandwich was literally dripping wet. The steak on the Philly cheese steak was red in spots (undercooked), and the BBQ burgers that two of our party ordered did not have any BBQ sauce on them.
We asked for the manager again and I asked him to take my rare burger back and that I didn't want a replacement. We pointed out the issues with the rest of the food also, and he apologized again and said that he was going to comp off our entire tab. We thanked him for that and immediately left, leaving our uneaten food on the table. We wasted over an hour on an incredibly disappointing experience, and wound up ordering from and eating at the Burger Joint restaurant.
ORIGINAL 4* REVIEW: 35 Brew Street is a very good addition to the food lineup at Diamond Jo Worth. It is a casual sit-down restaurant in a beautiful environment.
The menu is a little limited, but the food items were generally good. The chicken parm sandwich was very good, and I enjoyed the parmesan fries. My dining companions had the BBQ bacon cheeseburger (he liked it) and the BBQ bacon chicken sandwich (he didn't like it, and didn't like the parmesan fries).
Dessert was very good. Both of the warm cookies with ice cream are highly recommended. The molten chocolate cake was okay, but I would choose the cookie next time for sure.
I think the place is currently a little short-staffed. When we stopped by on a Saturday around 7pm, the dining room appeared to only be about half-full, but we were told that the kitchen was backed up and they weren't seating additional people at that time. We were able to make a reservation for an hour later and we were seated without an issue at that time.
The pace of service was quite leisurely, but our server was very friendly and we weren't in a rush so it was a good experience.
Pricing is decent for a sit-down restaurant, and I think 35 Brew Street is a great use of any comp dollars or food offers from the casino. We'll be back on our next visit.
The best onion rings EVER!!!!
Service fine, prices fine. Conveniently located in Diamond Jo's casino.
This is possibly our worst restaurant experience ever.
We went on a Saturday night, expecting it to be busy we made reservations beforehand. When we got there we were seated by the host in a nearly empty restaurant. It took nearly 20 minutes just to get water and menus, we placed our orders and then our server just disappeared for an hour. We finally spoke to the host and manager who didn't seem to know what to do about it.. they eventually found him fixated on a spot on a table in an empty section of the restaurant. Our food had been sitting under a heat lamp so long that it had turned to mush. They delivered it anyway and the order was completely wrong. We ended up leaving as the kitchen had closed and we didn't have any faith that they could resolve their issues. The fast food style burger joint closer to the casino had great service and food.
This was actually a "second chance" visit after our first visit didn't go great but not terrible either. We won't be going back.
We stopped for a meal after our vacation. I enjoyed the rib eye grinder, it’s delicious and sweet potatoes fries are the best!
My husband had the cheese burger and he said it was a good burger. We shared the chocolate molten cake with ice cream, plenty for both of us and a great dessert if you live chocolate! Other times the robot delivers the food which is cool!
The onions rings are some DELICIOUS!!! Had the fork and knife burger very delicious. Friend had the fish, fries and coleslaw. Love all of her meal. Would definitely stop back when traveling through.
Bartender took over 20 minutes to give us incorrect drinks. We got our food before we got our drinks. Asked to have correct drink made and he mad such a loud fuss for over 2 minutes while trying to find the items needed to make the drink I walked up and told him just forget it I will drink water.
The new updated location looks great! The staff was very friendly, kind and attentive. The food was great and I prefer it to their other eateries located in Diamond Joe. The only downsides that I witnessed was a limited tap and dish selection.
