Best WLM Reviews
Food is decent half the time, they really skimp out on serving sizes. The army’s facilities actually give good serving sizes in comparison. I wouldn’t go to this mess hall if you’re hungry. In fact i wouldnt join the marines. Join the Army if you really want to hit your macros.
Opening/closing times are inconvenient. Employees are really nice tho.
Not much variety on food but the sandwich wraps are good.
I like the setup and the food options, and you definitely can not beat the price for what you get.
UPDATE: The issue was taken care of, and the new computer system is up. They have a very limited selection compared to other chow halls but this one never has a line
Previous Issue: Never had a problem here until recently, but they have started charging marines who already get money deducted from their salary to pay additionally to eat here
The reason is that their CAC scanner is broken and they don't allow writing down EDIPI anymore. Basically if you want to eat here you will pay twice because they won't bother to get their system fixed.
The workers are usually very considerate with my food. They go out of their way to take special requests when asked. The service is a little slow sometimes, but it hasn’t been a problem for me. I would give the overall cleanliness a 2/5. The bathrooms are very clean, and I always see someone cleaning the tables or sweeping the floors immediately. The plates and utensils can be disgusting though. There’s a lot of left over food on the plates or in between forks etc. and sometimes they can still be greasy. The filter in the drink machines also need to be cleaned properly or more often because the drinks I get from all the machines have a moldy flavor to it. And lastly, the food quality is a 2/5. I understand the food is prepared with certain proportions of ingredients to ensure it meets health and wellness standards, so I wouldn’t judge too much for that reason, but I’d rather make my own food or just eat out still. The quality of the food isn’t always great. Most of the time the meat being served is thoroughly cooked, but there are some dishes that I watch out for when I see them. Usually the chicken isn’t fully cooked all the way, or the burger meat is too pink still and sometimes still cold in the middle. I’ve never had a problem with their fish, pork, or beef, but I also don’t eat it as often as I eat chicken. On the upside of things, I can never go wrong with the salad bar and the desserts are decent too, 4/5. Overall, I’d say choosing to go to the chow would usually be my last choice if I’m trying to save money or I’m reeeally hungry.
This chow hall is one of the better ones they serve a variety of foods and I usually get in and out pretty quickly. However their rules are never consistent. Considering I'm forced to spend my money there I gave it 3 stars because I am now being told what I can and cannot eat when getting a to go box. Now I cant grab two meats from one line and because I pay for the food. Good chow hall just have to deal with inconsistent rules.
I R A grunt so this will always be a minimum of four stars. The foods better, the workers are better, quality is better, cleanliness is better. In fact I wish they cared about us as much to make grunt chowhalls like this. Cheap food but affordable. Would come back if I was in the area. That 2 ribbon ssgt outside the door turning people away needs to get a life tho.
Calling it a chowhall is rather misleading. You won't "chow" on anything here. Between the abysmally slow service and the sometimes half cooked chicken, you will find yourself thinking a Denny's lumberjack-slam sounds gourmet. Unless the government is subsidizing your hard earned bread for a meal card that you don't want, eat somewhere that won't make you feel like you have stage 4 stomach cancer. They do have a soft serve ice cream machine which has warranted this establishment to rate at least one star which is generous on my part. God bless.
