I went to 22 Pell Hair for the first time for a wash and blow dry. I request Chaxie (pronounced as Charlie). He did an amazing jobs and my curls lasted for most of the day! Would 100% recommend him!! Fast and efficient !
Made it to famous Pell 22 as my husband shared this tik tok reel. I am usually very nervous when it comes to haircut and anything related. I went there, saw many people and it’s a very normal thing for this salon. Lady on reception sent me to this girl Mia, super nice girl. I refused for hair wash at first but I agreed later on. No hair wash person was available so she washed my hair with a beautiful massage I can never imagine. I lived on LI and went to multiple salon, never was satisfied. I came from India and service industry is big there no comparison to what you get in this country.
I feel really satisfied after meeting Mia who gave me a perfect haircut. I love this place and loved this girl Mia. I am definitely visiting this place again, guess what I found my forever place in NYC. I am super excited for future haircuts and look forward to …now onwards
Before my go-to guy, James, left, I would’ve easily given this place a 4/5, maybe higher. For the cheap price, I got two hair washes and the exact cut I wanted. My go-to for the past year and a half.
Since James left I’ve had two terrible haircuts. I only ask for a basic buzzcut with fading on the sides. But it seems that has become too tall an order.
The first one he didn’t follow my direction on length and cut it too short. On top of that, the cut was choppy, and I didn’t notice until after going home and looking at it carefully. Second time, a different stylist started out right, but then decided to take some artistic freedom and gave me a bowl cut-looking buzz cut where there was near ZERO fading on the sides. It looked terrible, and at that point, I felt too fed up to ask him to correct it. I ended up going somewhere else to get it fixed.
I’ve lost all trust in this place, sadly. Unless James makes a return, I will not be coming back.
Elaine never misses on making my hair look amazing every time I go in. She’s very kind and attentive, showed her what I wanted and got exactly what I asked for! Prices did go up, but $40 is not bad for wash AND cut. Every time I go the people who was my hair are also very great. My hair always feels squeaky clean and smelling great.
Booked appointments for myself and my boyfriend with Elaine after reading positive reviews online. I was very nervous as I hadn’t had my haircut in over two years because I’d had so many bad experiences spending a fortune and leaving salons in tears, but I left absolutely thrilled with my cut and color - and my boyfriend’s haircut looked great, too!
Elaine is clearly an experienced professional. She listened to what I was looking for and was helpful in advising on what I needed to achieve the hair color I wanted. I can’t believe what a beautiful style I left with for such an affordable price compared to many nyc salons. She will definitely be my hairstylist from now on!

I heard about this gem through Tiktok. The hairdresser recommended based on reviews and social media is Steven. I walked in and was asked who the stylist I want, and I asked for him. I was asked if I had an appointment with him, and I said no. When we arrived, he was still assisting another client, so a lady assisted me in washing my hair, and I was seated directly. To my surprise, another stylist was given to me. I don't know what happened, but I'm happy about the outcome.
Chaxie did a fantastic job. I showed him inspo, a butterfly cut, and he did it with precision and finesse. I have long, thick hair, so instead of using a hairbrush and hair dryer to style it, he asked me if he could use a curling wand, and I said yes. I loved how they asked permission first before doing something.
I did not expect to be roaming around NYC with glamorous hair for just $43! They accept the cards for payment. I would suggest tipping by cash.
I received one of the best haircuts of my life here. It's so much better than any haircut I've received at an upscale salon. I have long, thick hair and most stylists typically struggle with giving it more body and shape. They usually do the bare minimum and I walk out of the salon thinking I paid $100 for a trim. However, Steve knew exactly what he was doing and gave me a haircut that worked for my hair type and length. I will definitely be coming back here again!
Highly recommend this place, especially a haircut with Steven! Not only was he so positive and vibrant, he was super helpful in suggesting lengths that worked with your face / hair type. He definitely knew what he was doing and I left feeling amazing. : )
The prices here are incredibly affordable so be sure to tip well. : )
