Went last time visiting. Yes parking is expensive " I happen to be disabled so I get to park for free..though it was only with the help of a couple young men working that helped find us a spot to park.. is it a long walk? Yes...but the walk is unique and like doing a nature trail walk. Really beautiful..if you don't like it..stop at the numerous rental shops..they have beach wagons you can rent and they carry more than you realize and are easy to pull with the bigger beach wheels..as for the trail, it goes past some free outdoor, clean and nice showers..some of when I used them .."were the cleanest bathrooms I'd been in in quite a while" especially with so many using all day long....and there is some great areas to picnic under the trees ..Really pretty..the walk goes thru the trees coming out onto a boardwalk area a beautiful bridge that goes over a canal..(very cool spot) you'll see kayakers in there to. So there's another idea? As well...its great for the kids and a really interactive and a teaching opportunity for the family young and old alike.. as for the beach..it is slightly narrow and can get a bit crowded ( in-season) but still not bad. The water changes depending on the winds and tide/and time of the day. Check the weather report for that day you plan to go... I had a great time swimming and found some really awesome shell's..plenty of great spots for shelling..recommend if the walk is to long..pass and try another spot..but for others including families it's a awesome place to go and spend a day..enjoy"
Great location, plentiful parking at fair rate. Bathrooms are clean, short walk to the beach.....
Bring back the old kiosk machines much easier to work for us older folks
The parking is a considerable distance from the beach. The water is very murky and the shoreline drops off about a foot. Difficult to judge where you're stepping. As well, the first few feet are full of sharp seashells. Bring water shoes to get past that. I wouldnt bring young children here to the beach. I consider it dangerous. If a child fell in or was knocked down by a wave, i have concerns about losing them in this silty water!!! There's a playground near the parking lot.The shower is near the parking lot. The washrooms are good. I really wouldn't recommend this beach. St. Pete's Beach is much nicer and the water is clearer by a little bit. The beaches on the Gulf Coast certainly aren't Bahamas or Hawaii (clear and blue). But, hey, the water is nice and refreshing. The sand is white. You can walk out 150 ft and it's still at chest height.

Large parking lot where you can pay by the hour. Close to the facilities. Note: during peak season (Feb-Apr) you need to get here early or wait until someone leaves.
Good parking. Not sure how to pay now. Used to have a machine to pay.
