Best WLM Reviews

I don't know what to say, this place is absolutely fantastic. We started with a beautifully crafted bourbon and mint cocktail with the mozzarella garlic bread (so good we ordered a 2nd togo). For entrees we had the Gnocchi and asked them to add some protein to it, they did not disappoint. The dish came out with sausage and prosciutto, mouth watering good. Also order the sausage and broccoli, when it came out we realized that there was no sausage in the dish. The chef took care of that right away, rather than just bringing a plate with sausage he remade the whole dish and offer us to take it to-go. The waitresses were all amazing, regularly checking on us and making sure all out needs were met. If you're looking for an alternative to seafood this is the spot. I cannot wait to go back.
Very compact with nice views! Kind of loud. Friendly service and Wifi available.
I had steak with vegetables, ricotta toast as an appetizer and chocolate cake with raspberry gelato for dessert. Delicious.
If you don't mind noise, I recommend this restaurant. Go early. It gets busy!
Spontaneous stop in York Beach on our way up to Portland. We didn't have a reservation and they were booked for the rest of the day/night but they fit us in and managed to maintain social distancing protocol. We ordered appetizers to share, and absolutely loved every bite! The menu is Italian, which I didn't think I was hungry for but the bruschetta and spinach "meatballs" were excellent!! (We devoured everything before I got a chance to take pics, haha!) Service was wonderful and all covid safety precautions were being followed. Also noticed they were doing a steady take-out business too, so if you can't get a table, consider ordering to-go. Definitely recommend!
Oct 2018 High quality food. Small intimate space. Great service. Price affordable.
June 2019 New chef. Unfortunately, the menu is now totally uninteresting. They used to serve a fantastic pork dish, like a schnitzel, now they serve very basic dishes like spaghetti and meatballs. I tried the chicken parmesan, and I was very disappointed; it tasted prepackaged, no flavor and very mushy. They still have a great location, but they'll have to make significant changes to get back their reputation.
June 2021 New menu, not as innovative as in 2018 but excellent quality again. The half hour wait was worth it, the food was delicious and the staff was friendly and timely. My only regret is that they closed for the summer by the third week in August. I hope they come back strong next year.
We were staying in the area and decided to pop in for dinner on a hot Thursday night. The AC was welcome and the food was delicious. We ordered the ricotta honey crostini, bolognese and tried the Cello Collins for a drink. Everything came out hot and was a great portion size to share between two of us. We will definitely be back when we’re in the area.
Tried this place for the first time tonight. Other than pizza and pasta, there weren't many options. Tried my wife's lobster pizza (not a regular menu item)...it was very good. I started with the mixed greens salad which was mostly just field greens with a few bits of tomatoes and carrots. I ordered the sausage and peppers appetizer as my meal (adding picture) and it was excellent though I didn't know it came on bread like a bruchette. Our service was good except the timing of the meals was off. None of our meals came at the same time. Our server was clearly being trained but she was never introduced as training so it was just a little awkward. The place seems to be attempting to be a little more upscale than the other options in the area and for the most part it is. For me it was much too loud and too cold to the point it was uncomfortable. So, I'd give the food 4 stars... maybe a little overpriced. It was really the freezing AC and the very loud atmosphere that brought my review down to 3 stars. Will likely try again.
1652 is a beautiful restaurant with absolutely delicious and authentic Italian cuisine. Guests can dine on the front deck, inside, and at the bar. It was open air the night I dined and it was pleasant to feel the slight breeze coming into the restaurant. The pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven and are fantastic! The oil, garlic and chili pasta is also worth getting (it leaves diners wondering what is that delicious garlic smell). There's only four beer taps and a fairly small liquor selection, but what's there is top notch.
We called at 4p to try to make reservations on a Friday, but we were informed that they don't take reservations. Expecting a long wait for a table, we arrived at 7:30p to be told "rudely" that they are not seating anymore tables. Which at this time 2 tables were finished their meals and leaving. A man at the bar said " there's plenty of open tables." The lady on staff that kept saying NO to seating us was barely audible with body language that we were a burden.
Review is not about the food or service during meal. We obviously didn't get that far. Kind man at the bar (took 45mins for him to get his tab for 1 drink.) gave us an excellent recommendation across the street, which was an absolute treasure.
