My favourite metro station as I stayed on holidays near here. Strange thing - the wooden seats must be over 100 years old. Why not replace it with something more elegant. softer and more modern?
Just an okay station. Yankees fans were nice to my family and I when we were waiting for one of the commuter train lines. Probably won't be back anytime soon since we are from out-of-town.
What more can I say not in New Yorker if you have it hit up Yankee stadium definitely one of my favorite spots to go enjoy myself just about any day they have something going on I must see if you are a Taurus just visiting New York and if you live here and have not gone I suggest you do.
Nice stadium.
Got through security and bought tickets quick enough. All friendly.
Nice views.
Nice Shop attached to the stadium.
The B train from 72nd on west takes about 30 minutes.
Best way to get to and from the game. The 4 train will take you too and from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. The B or D Train will leave you around the corner from Penn Station if you take it to 34th & Broadway. You can also take the B or D and transfer at 125th Street to the A or C downtown train which will stop at Penn Station. Lets go Yankees!!!
Absolutely the worst subway line in the Bronx. You may be surprised to know, that the express D train does not stop at this station during "rush hour." Despite the presence of the stadium, all the court houses, criminal defender services, Bronx Terminal Market, the marriage bureau, social security office, housing services office, and the first stop on the historical Grand Concourse. Way to cater to Manhattanites and ignore your own community who live and work in the Bronx and need access to these basic services. Add that on to the deft corporate kowtowing during Yankee games, when the D train suddenly decides to stop at this station so Manhattanites can make it to their precious games. Be prepared to have to switch to the absolute nightmare that is the B train if you plan to ride at these commute times. Often 10-15 behind schedule, running upwards of 20 minutes between trains, running on the wrong track, and often not running at all, forcing the D train to run local in the Bronx anyway. The MTA makes zero effort whatsoever to sync the local and express trains, watching the B train close its doors and pull away from the station just as the D train is arriving is not an uncommon occurrence. Why they raise rates equally in the Bronx and charge the same amount per ride as they do in Manhattan, while providing an inferior service is baffling. By now it won't surprise you to know that the D train actually does stops here if you are commuting from Manhattan. I'm surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit yet.
The BD section of this station is nice and has very odd looking seats that are in there he wall. The 4 section however looks just like a typical elevated station.
Beautiful open concourses, great sightlines just about anywhere. One Negative, the class of people who stand behind the lower sections in the concourse instead of their seats.
