Best WLM Reviews
I love the place everything about it is inviting. From the menu, the reviews, the ambiance, and the photos. However I was not satisfied with the amount I received for a complete ! I was told either the Mac n cheese or the the turkey in sauce which is a weird ultimatum, but anyways the amount of meat that came in the carton was not enough to feed two (I’m use to completes being enough for at least TWO feedings ! I’m appalled literally because there’s nothing in here . I guess previous reviews had no issues however I will not be coming back ! They could’ve filled the carton at least . My peoples aside from other cultures is usually known for doing so ???? disappointed
Edit : the small sauce taste funny and there’s no taste .. the Mac n cheese the only thing taste good and they’ve managed to give me a small spoonful ????????♀️
Griot was absolutely horrible 80% of the meat was pure fat! The macaroni was hard, burnt, and tasted old; possibly reheated from yesterday! This restaurant used to be a favorite, but it’s slowly on the decline due to poor operations ! BE AWARE!!!
The food here was horrible. It saddens me to have to write this review because the lady who received my order was very pleasant but I have to be honest. I ordered the legumes and companion ordered the pasta dish. Let's start with mine first The dish was very oily no flavor rice tasted overly salty like they put too much chicken bouillon on it. You can taste it and the color leaked off of the rice. The plantains were very hard and tasted old. The legumes itself was very oily no flavor at all and a health hazard. You can look at the picture and see a piece of a foreign object that they cooked inside the legumes while I was eating it. ????Once I saw that I threw the whole dish away. Other party did not enjoy their pasta at all it had no flavor and the chicken looked very old and crusty. If you look at the picture it doesn't even look like a real chicken. The inside of the place looked decent it was a little dark because it looks like they turned off all the lights. Apparently this restaurant has been open for years I've never heard of it and I wish I never heard of this restaurant because I felt like I wasted my money and we both threw our foods away after a few bites.
Googled Haitian restaurant because I had a taste for it and this place came up. The sound of Haitian music playing softly, not too loud as some places overdo it, sets a good vibe. The lady was very sweet, helpful and nice.
I ordered the turkey with black rice and Mac n cheese. I also ordered a soursop cream juice which was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was homemade. FYI I was charged an 18% service fee which applies if you dine in which you can just factor into your tip so no issue for me.
Over all I would visit again. Recommended.
The food is great and the portions are big. The staff is helpful and friendly every time I come by. This is my Haitian spot when I’m in the North Broward area. Also this is the only Haitian restaurant I know that actually add Mac and cheese to your dish. Mac and cheese be hitting, in a good way.
12/24 - I am wiring this review as I’m currently in the lobby - The kitchen needs improvement BIG time !!! That lady in there is NOT it . My food took forever to come , when it finally did , I had to get up myself go ask the young lady for extra silverware … and extra plates as she was sooo busy chatting with what seemed to be her BF - The rice was dry and very garlicky , the conch was not tasty at all and it did not taste “ Fresh “ . No pikliz was served with my order of Acra and extra plantain. Overall , very disappointed , WILL NEVER RETURN.
My brother was recently referred to this place. He told me they had great food and decided to see for myself yesterday. The young lady who answered the phone was pleasant. I waited less than 60 seconds to receive my food once I arrived. The food was absolute fantastic. I will be back!
Update: October 2022.
The food started off great. I buy food here at least twice a month since the first time I came here but the griot most of the time is over cooked and dry. Sometimes the macaroni is a hit or miss. The cashier told me to order my meat fried soft so it’s not too hard which I started doing. I went here last Friday, 10/7 and ordered my regular 2 griot completes. Once I finished eating my stomach began hurting immediately. I woke up in the middle of the night and threw the entire meal up. The next morning, I was so sick I could not stay out of the bathroom. I’m not sure exactly sure what was wrong with my meal but I will not be back. I wanted to love this restaurant but I believe I had food poisoning.
My first time trying Haitian food - the wife ordered the fry whole chicken I ordered the whole pork plate that came with the rice and beans some plantains and mac and cheese on the side. Also the piklis (spicy cole slaw ) Everything was great and delicious. Food was tasty ???? well seasoned, pork was well cook and flavorful, Not burn or dry like other places. I highly recommend this plate or the lamb. The sides like the rice were really good I can eat them by themselves all day. The portions were big enough to have some left overs. The black bean sauce was good ???? goes very well with the white rice and chicken. We also tried some jupita soda watermelon and pineapple. Overall experience was great- waitress was great and the food was good too. definitely will go back.
