Best WLM Reviews

My new favorite dining experience in Oahu.
I've spent months in Oahu and tried dozens of restaurants, and I think this is my new favorite. It's a small, family-run authentic Japanese restaurant (owner operated for 40 years) with stellar food and even better service. We were seated right away without a reservation (~7pm on a Friday) and the staff were very accommodating to our baby.
We ordered two dinner courses: the sashimi plate and the Beef Sukiyaki (hot pot). Each of them came with a large assortment of sides (miso soup, bowl of rice, home made tofu, home made noodles, and a few other things), a generous quantity of the main meal, and a dessert (mochi ice cream). It was about $50/person, which is not bad at all for this much food in Oahu. The food came out pretty quickly and everybody from the owner to the server were extremely friendly.
Finally, on our way out, the elderly owner stopped us so he could give our baby boy a toy!
If you want consistently delicious, authentic, upscale, no-frills, Japanese cuisine to-go, look no further!
I had a hankering for shrimp tempura, so I ordered their ‘shrimp tempura course’ “bento" and chirashi bowl to-go. It was absolutely delicious! The ingredients were so fresh!
The fresh, artfully prepared chirashi bowl came with: unagi, maguro tuna sashimi, hamachi, scallop, squid, sweet egg (tamagoyaki), pickles, mushrooms, among other fresh ingredients. The homemade cold tofu was a tasty delight as well!
While the dine-in experience is predictably excellent, the packaging for takeout was thoughtful and no-nonsense.
I highly recommend this place if you want your money’s worth!
The food and service is excellent. Traditional Japanese cuisine. Traditional Japanese service. Excellence. The vibe and feel brought me back to my Grandma’s Saimin in Los Angeles from when I was a child. I could sit here all day and listen to the delicate rumble of the various Japanese dialects spoken during my amazing dinner.
Had a lovely meal at Yoshitsune recently, and it's definitely worth talking about. The highlight of my visit was the exceptional service, particularly from a very kind elderly lady who made the experience truly memorable. She steamed the unagi (eel) rice right at our table in a pot and even involved me in the process by having me use my phone to time it. Such a unique and engaging touch!
Unfortunately, I missed out on trying their matsutake rice, which I was looking forward to, but that didn't dampen the overall experience. The sashimi served here is not only generously portioned but also incredibly fresh. Following a satisfying set meal, we were treated to a delicious dessert that perfectly rounded off the meal.
My visit to Yoshitsune was thoroughly enjoyable, from the attentive service to the quality of the food. It's a solid four-star experience for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic and hearty Japanese cuisine.
Really, 10/10 everything! We came here for breakfast on a Friday, and now it’s my favorite spot for breakfast on the island. They use high quality ingredients and I didn’t feel like anything was too fatty or salty. Must get the breakfast set. Their homemade tofu is so good. Oh… best natto ever. If it wasn’t in Waikiki, I’d go every day lol. However, super easy walk across the street, parking at the zoo… or valet.
Visited this restaurant 7 years ago and were thoroughly impressed with the sushi, so we decided to return tonight with our kids. The sushi course exceeded our expectations once again. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable. To top it off, at the end of our meal, the restaurant kindly gave toys to our kids, which truly made their day. We highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious food, excellent service, and thoughtful gestures towards families.
We came without expecting much. We just wanted to have some light Japanese food for dinner. But this place serves great food!
I recommend the $50 Sashimi course. It comes with many side dishes and each of them caters to our taste. The sashimi is fresh.
The neighbor table ordered sukiyaki set. It looked amazing too!
Absolutely the best sushi in Hawaii.
The quality of the fish is perfect.
Delicious nigiri, tofu, miso and ice cream.
Definitely will visit more.
