We have enjoyed this restaurant for decades. Even with the modernized interior it has still maintained it's charm from the past. The food is always tasty and the service was great. We really enjoyed the Valentine's Day extras. Not many places will do these kinds of things unless you're paying some absorbent prices. We will gladly return to a neighborhood staple
We stopped in for dinner while visiting the area. It appears to be very crowded based on the parking lot and the line when we went in. However, we through very quickly, the place is larger than we expected so there was plenty of seating.
The place is setup cafeteria style. You order your food and the salads, drinks and dessert is self served as you go through the line.
We ordered the Sirloin and Shrimp dinner. All of the meals come with salads and drinks. They were all delicious and cooked to perfection.
The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive.
This place was great. The cafeteria style ordering/serving was a nice throwback, the food came out quickly, the servers were respectful, and the atmosphere was great.
Food: the quality of the food was great, especially considering how affordable it was.
Service: all employees were presentable, well spoken, and polite. They were very attentive to the table/our needs.
Atmosphere: great decor inside. It feels as if you're dining in an old hall/pub. Perfect lighting level, nice instrumental music in the background at an appropriate volume. All of the patrons were maintaining an appropriate volume level without profanity.
All in all, this place was great. It's so nice to go somewhere quiet, with an immersive atmosphere great staff, and an attractive price point.
Very sad to hear it is for sale by the owner, but I'm hopeful someone will buy it and keep it going.
Last York Steak house ever...Just like it was years ago,great food,service and prices...like stepping back in time..the owner Jay was amazing...we will be back!!
Enjoyed our valentines lunch here, food was great and staff was very polite, friendly and professional, worth the drive down from Lagrange. We'll be back.
Had beef tips, baked potato, salad and roll. Good (not great) service. Tips were not to my liking. Too much gristle. Salad was ok if you like wet lettuce. Big crowd but easy to navigate the line. Glad we went, won’t go again.
York Steakhouse no longer offers the full salad bar that they used to have before covid, but you still get to build your own salad as you walk through the line. I enjoy the variety of items on the menu. Not only can you get a steak for a reasonable price, but you can also get delicious honey roasted chicken or even fish, if you prefer. They also offer a nice variety of desserts at a reasonable price.
I ordered what I presume was labeled "shoe leather grade, but edible". It was maybe the worst steak I've had in years.
The servers were kind enough but very slow. We all spent about half our meal desperately wanting beverage refills, and to be honest, this place is not even half full AND the servers don't need to take orders, so I'm not sure why it's so slow.
The atmosphere is best described as "depressing and oppressive" but the model train is cute.
The point is: don't eat here. If you want a steak, go to literally any other steak restaurant. The food will be much better and the price is the same.
