This is like Chipotle for Chinese Food.
Food 5/5
My go to: Beef Bone Soup, Extra Spicy. So good.
You pick whatever you want to go into your soup. Basically like your own hotpot and they charge by weight.
Get their skewers too, it's good:
Beef Skewers
Lamb Skewers
Sausage Skewers
Something new to try. They charge by pound but the serving is really a lot. Excellent for rainy days. Soup base is good for anything. Had to bring leftover home and added a few vegetables and it is still good.
Very good! It tastes exactly like what I had in China! The store is clean and the food is fresh. We tried both beef bone soup and spicy mix. Both of them are great! I'll be back again
The one closest to home, but it also takes 25 minutes, because considering Rowland Heights is not safe, so bring the children here to try, I did not expect the store environment is very clean! The ingredients are fresh! Much better than the net red hidden hot before eating! The price is very reasonable! I love it! The kids love it, too! I will come again! By the way, the staff is very friendly!
Visited this Chinese restaurant and loved their spicy hot pot - it tasted just like home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the hot pot had the perfect balance of spice and flavor. It felt like a comforting journey back to my hometown. Great service too. Highly recommend for an authentic taste of China!
Update: we’ve returned and the meat selections looked and tasted a lot better than our last visit. Maybe we just caught a wrong day for beef and lamb. I also tried the fish and it was pretty good. The intestines were really good today. We even tried the beef skewers and they were okay.
This is a popular place for spicy Szechuan specialty food. Malatang literally means numbing & spicy scalding hot. As you can see from its name, this is not a place for faint of heart. You pick the ingredients from a salad bar styled counter and then the staff would weigh it. It’s $13.99 per pound. Then they will cook it for you in your choice of soup base: classic spicy peppery flavor (Ma-la or black pepper and red pepper/ medium to very spicy), beef bone broth (mild to medium spiciness) and tomato based non/spicy flavor. The vegetable selections were fresh and lots of variety, the beef and lamb options were not very good as they were pretty tough to chew. The pork intestines were fine, but not great. The meatballs and fish cakes were pretty good. The beef and lamb slices were below average and only a few pieces left when we visited, so not sure if the meat is always like that or we just csme in late for lunch and they ran out the good stuff. So, a 5-star for the veggies and a 3-star for the meat. We didn’t try the fish filets, but will do so on our next visit. The service was very friendly and excellent, though we did have to wait a while due to several Uber orders they had to take care of first. This is a good option for fresh spicy food and we no longer have to drive to Rowland Heights for malatang. Note: be aware of 5-star ratings here as it offers free drinks for 5-star reviews, I am quite weary of this type of reviews as think that would affect the veracity of the reviews. Also, in general you won’t find the non-spicy option at a malatang restaurant, but here in Chino Hills a non-spicy option was created for the gringo crowd. It’s worth a try if you’ve never had malatang or just tang if you don’t like spiciness or numbness from your food.
The dining experience at this hot pot place is absolutely fantastic! Firstly, the interior is clean and tidy, providing a comfortable atmosphere. The staff's attitude is incredibly friendly and courteous, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Moreover, the hot pot here is exceptionally delicious. The flavor and texture of the food are outstanding, especially the rich and distinctive beef bone soup that leaves a lasting impression. What's even more surprising is the diverse selection of fresh ingredients. Each bite captures the freshness and quality of the ingredients, making the entire dining process exceptionally enjoyable.
In summary, this hot pot place excels in terms of ambiance, service, and food quality. It's a satisfying restaurant overall. I highly recommend it to friends who love hot pot!
Incredible Malatang. I’ve been here 3 times this week because I can’t get enough. Flavor is incredible and it’s very very affordable for what you get! Super fresh
