First, the host tried to sit someone who arrived after my party. Then once we were sat it took about 20 minutes to get our order in. The party they tried to sit before us got their food about 10 minutes before our order was taken. Then when the food arrived most of it was bland, yet the potatoes were over seasoned.
The place was overcrowded due to tables and booths being way too close together. I got bumped every two minutes by servers and a costumer going to the bathroom while sitting at a booth. I would recommend IHOP before this place.
On weekends it gets very busy so you need to have a little patience on things like refills. They are running around taking care of everyone they can as fast as they can. With that said they are worth the wait! Food is good, staff is hard working and it is a very affordable cafe.
4th time here and I never have complaints about the food. Sometimes service is a little slow but they're crowded. A dependable breakfast (nothing super fancy about it) spot with Mexican style options besides the typical American breakfast which I love so I can soothe my salty taste buds after black beans and tortillas with pancakes. Fresh squeezed orange juice (I recommend asking for a glass of ice on side in go cup to go with it). They have good size portions for the price
We have come twice in one week! This place is delicious with a wide selection of food! Prices are great and service is fantastic! Highly recommend their fresh squeezed orange juice, hashbrowns, pancakes ???? we will def make this a regular stop when we are back in town!
Absolutely amazing food and service, there was a line when we got here but it was well worth the wait. The eggs Benedict as well as the pancakes were amazing. Oh and when they say fresh squeezed orange juice they mean it.
The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly, however the food was just bland and flavorless. I ordered the seafood breakfast burrito and I really expected a little flaovor for something that appeared to be cajun/Hispanic fusion. What I got was a completely bland, unseasoned medley of eggs, beans and plain unseasoned crawfish.
I work in Hammond and have always wanted to try this restaurant. I was sadly disappointed with what took place when I saw that the waitress put in my order wrong after suggesting I try the shrimp and grits and said I could get a 1/2 plate and add side if I liked. I said definitely and my husband repeated my order as did the waitress. After eating, I noticed I was charged for a full serving not a 1/2 and when I asked her to correct it, she said she turned in the wrong order size and reluctantly went to “fix the price” from $10.99 to $5.99 but came back and had only taken off 39 cents! I always tip very big but noted no tip on the ticket bc the second error and extra $5 amount could stand as the tip. I clearly wrote this on the ticket and totaled it out at $28.59. After it cleared my bank, I saw that they added a $3.00 tip so not only did they not correct the ticket error, but they also gave themselves a tip on top of what I closed the ticket out for knowing full well that I overpaid $5 on a wrong I corrected ticket ???????????? Not a good way to run a business.
Oh my goodness. I just had the best breakfast of my life here at the Yellow Bird Café!!! I got the yellow bird breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly...the bacon was absolutely perfect crispness without a spot of grease or raw anywhere on it...the pancakes were better than everybody's grandma's...the breakfast potatoes with a side of their green salsa was amazing (and I'm not really a potato lover). The gentleman who served me (Miguel) provided perfect service. What I want to know is how come nobody ever told me about this place that's been here for like 17 years? Well, as I look around, I realize the ones who know about it are keeping it as a little oasis to themselves. But, by my tastes there is no better breakfast in all of Louisiana (or any of the surrounding states)...and their non-breakfast offerings looked so delicious that now I have to come back and try those too. Well Done Yellow Bird Café. Keep doing what you are doing because it is excellent.
