The hike is fun although very steep and exposed. Great workout and the view from the top is beautiful. Also a great place to park and bring a picnic with friends.
The parking lot in the Y Hike is very well maintained and spacious. There is no parking or entrance fee for the hike. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. Would recommend doing this hike earlier in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. Unless you don’t mind the heat.
Absolutely beautiful and quiet place. If you ever visit Provo Utah this is a MUST SEE PLACE TO BE!!!
The Y Hike Parking lot is more like a cascading of different parking lots going all the way down the hill. The uppermost parking lot alone can fit ~55 vehicles, and there are four smaller parking lots down the hill and parking on the side of the road if all of those fill up. There are trash cans at each parking lot and a public restroom and drinking fountain at the uppermost parking lot.
Expanded parking lots, widened trail, and better bathrooms. The Y-trail is improved since BYU took over maintainance.
Fun and challenging hike with interesting information at the switchbacks. Had fun hiking as a BYU student years ago and had a great time hiking with my family of young kids today!
Love this hike!!!! Been many times lately. Kind of a steep parking lot to get to, so be patient haha. There's a couple different areas to park in. It's a little more than a mile to the top. Definitely take water!!!! It's nice because they offer benches at each turn for breaks, one even has binoculars you can look at the city with.
Get ready to hike! This hike is moderate I would say. Lots of places to sit down and rest. It can be taxing due to the grade of the hike. Absolutely beautiful view. If you’re in Provo, you should make this hike at least once.
