As I travel, I like to go to “local places” to eat. The food is usually better, money goes to small businesses rather than multi-national corporations. So, I found XL California Burger while in Phoenix. It was old school. As you can see, the double burger, bacon and cheeses, was better and bigger than a double quarter pound Big Mac. Serving size wasn’t chinchy either. I loved this place.
Been here multiple times for breakfast and burgers, the food is always fresh and comes out fast. As you can see wee finished everything. We only paid 27$. Very cheap.
Superpricey. The menu pricing is deceiving. It is the item price plus the medium $3.99 to $4.99 large) for a meal (drink/fries). They were pretty quick for the large order I placed. I was a bit sad to see the box type fish-- thought they would be hand breaded in house.
First time here, and probably my last. The service was fast but the food wasn’t the best . I ordered the chicken strips, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini. Everything was way over salted, and the chicken strips were flat as pancakes and very crunchy. They also don’t have trays so you have to get every plate one by one and that’s really annoying too.
Update: What's up with the chili fries recipe? Did it change? This one had an unpleasant star anise hint to it, supposed to be California style, not Pakistani. I was a huge fan of this!! My son ordered the seafood combo, and while the fries were generously seasoned, they lacked flavor. Weird! What seasoning was that??
Also, what's with the consistently lazy attitude from the young ladies taking orders? Every time, it's like they're annoyed just to do their job! They need some basic customer service skills and a smile. Anyway, not worth the drive anymore.
Old review: The menu has a ton of items, like got daaaaam!!!???? Ill be coming back several times to try different items for sure!
That classic diner food feel, but with some more unique options. Service is fast and friendly. Food is delicious and a great value. Seating is cafeteria and decor is very route 66.
They're burgers and chili cheese fries are delicious. They're French toast, bacon and eggs are delicious. Can't go wrong
I loved the food but I did not like cashiers attitude, I got no napkins, they couldn't find the keys to the restroom so I can wash my hands, and after a bit standing there I see an employee go in the restroom, and a heavy set female saw that I was still standing and gave me a wet towel so that I can wash my hands, but the younger Hispanic cashier has to change her attitude a be more customer friendly, and it would be nice if customers had Access to napkins
Good burger and huge selection for breakfast and lunch options. Awesome, no nonsense breakfast eggs cooked perfect and great French toast.
