Please don’t waste your money on the tres leches cake or choco flan. Not even close to being authentic.. not moist or pillowy. Just outrageously sweet and dense.
Food is fire though!
Rice and beans were delicious but the birria tacos tasted weird to me, my husband liked his strawberry horchata and I got a regular one but it had too much vanilla or cinnamon, it was strong and hard to drink. The lady who gave us service was very nice.
Finally found good Mexican food in Anchorage!!!
The birria tacos are no joke. They weren’t super busy so it took them about 6 minutes to hand me the tacos and boy they were good! So tasty and juicy. They are 3 tacos but I ate one before taking the photo.

I’ve had Xalos a few times, and this location wasn’t my favorite. The service was a little less friendly and helpful, and they took a long time to get us our food. Probably 20-30 minutes for two plates. BUT, I have to say the food is the best Mexican you’ll find in Anchorage at least. Xalos does it right. The birria tacos are seriously good, especially with the dipping sauce. I got a fajita burrito which was tasty, but had some cold ingredients. It was still delicious though. And the strawberry horchata is a MUST. So good.
Overall a great place. Could improve a few things, but they make some great food my friends.
I went in to for Birria tacos and I sure enjoyed it. I spent $15.95 for a plate, 3 tacos in the place with the sauces and lemons. Had a crunched on the taco and a mild spicy to it. All the ingredients balance however some onions in there would complete it. Nice and soft, they have a huge menu I recommend you to give this place a try.
I’m a regular, today I ordered the Mexican Caesar salad, they brought it to me with old brown avocados. I sent it back and it came back a bit watery. It tasted strange I did not enjoy it at all. Once I have a bad experience I’m done when it come to food. Not happy at all.
Very good burritos, street tacos, quesa birrias and guac. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Restroom was very clean. Nice little spot to stop for lunch before or after shopping next door!
