TLDR: Shop used to be awesome, came here frequently, they had my car for basically two weeks and did no work to it, wrongly advised me, will never return again.
I used to come here constantly with my previous vehicle (F150) due to its issues and used to (key words) have amazing service. I would drop it off at the beginning of a work day and come back at the end of the day and it would be fixed with no problems at a decent price.
Fast forward a year and a half later. I’ve taken my vehicle in here twice in the past two months, my newer (to me) vehicle is a 92 Camaro with a simple 305 engine and minor wiring, which to most would be rather easy to work on. I had cooling issues after I hit a tire on the interstate that damaged my air condenser but wasn’t exactly sure what was going on yet. I had it in for a diagnostic, I gave them 3 days to do the work to find out what was going on. They waited until the last day to do anything, and it was only after I called to get an update, that I actually received one.
They did the diagnostic and couldn’t tell me that anything was wrong but they blamed the fans for not cooling properly or turning on at the right time but never mentioned what it looked like to fix that problem. I read online that it was an air condenser and they said that could be it and that they could fix it but it might be better for me to order the parts online because it’s be cheaper for me, which I appreciated. Well fast forward 3-4 weeks, my wife and I are going on vacation, I’ve received the new part and planned to drop it off for them to do the work so my car would be fixed by the time I get back. They had the car for a WHOLE WEEK. They did absolutely nothing to it. I show up to pick the car up because I needed it for work regardless and as I’m pulling out of the garage, he tells me he’s glad they didn’t replace it due to the tools that it required probably wouldn’t have worked anyway and that he doesn’t believe that was the issue and probably wouldn’t have solved my problems…. Now why would you tell me to buy that part and not warn me that that’s the problem?? A mechanics job is to diagnose, inspect, provide guidance and repair. 3/4 of those four responsibilities were completely disregarded. Nothing was done after basically 2 weeks total of having the car. I don’t think I even got an apology after I discussed my disappointment with Jake.
This shop has gone increasingly downhill and I’m sad to say they will no longer receive my business or the business of my colleagues, and I wouldn’t recommend you to bring your vehicle here either.
Good people, an honest shop and quality work.
These boys have saved my bacon on more than one occasion, so grateful to have a local shop we can trust. Thanks guys!
I’ve been going to Mike and Jake at Wise Auto for the past 11 years for any of my car repair needs. These guys are great. Their prices are fair, and they get the job done swiftly. Truly honest, kind people.
Mike and his team were great with communication. Appreciate the great service that Mike went above and beyond for me, this is a company you can definitely trust and will be coming back again. Thanks again for the fantastic service!
Best mechanic I ever knew, and am lucky to know. Straightforward, intelligent, and honest business practices paired with experienced and efficient mechanical skills. Mike really knows his profession inside and out. Best, he won't suggest unnecessary repairs. His prices are fair, and he is straight with you when replacement will be cheaper than repair. Mike is truly a stand up guy and superior mechanic. Bring the man a good barbecue sandwich, he probably earned it twice already today, plus he loves 'em! Mike is the best.
Very affordable and very helpful. They had my car in and out in a few hours. This is my go to place for any car repairs
Small efficient shop and an office with an old fashioned popcorn machine. Owner is an honest and thorough mechanic as are the employees. They work on most makes and models, and can do almost any repair. Locally owned and operated.
Can’t in good faith give a lower review since my experience with them was brief and may be uncharacteristic of them, but:
1. Brought my 1997 Dodge Dakota in to fix a power steering leak. Brought the severe leak down to a minor leak. Price was reasonable but problem was not completely solved.
2. Needed to get my wheel hub bearing replaced on my 2010 Toyota Prius. They quoted 200 for labor (a bit steep but not outrageous) and 350 for the part. It actually took me 45 minutes and the part was $75 at O’Reilly’s, which isn’t even close to the best deal you can get. Nearly quintuple the price is obscene, unless they were using a part straight from Toyota, which I highly doubt
