We have lived in Winston Trails since 2019 and have watched the restaurant change hands approximately 6 times over the past 5 years. We have tried to support every owner, along with supporting our local community. However, it’s been incredibly hard to do so with such consistently inconsistent food quality.
We have visited multiple times over the past 4-5 months and have had issues with our food quality every time. This visit was our last straw. We ordered potato skins that were advertised with cheese, bacon, scallions and sour cream and only came with bacon and liquid, not shredded cheese. The bacon was burnt to a crisp and the potatoes had no flavor. We had to ask for sour cream and scallions. Also had the Reuben sliders which were served on a hamburger bun and barely had any corn beef.
My friend ordered a cheeseburger quesadilla. When it arrived, it was burnt hamburger with no cheese. When we asked for it to be removed from the bill, the waitress told us the chef refused to do so and said we either had to send it back or pay full price. A quality chef with customer service in mind would have came over himself and apologized for the poor quality and presentation of the food.
It should be noted that the bartenders (Toni especially) and the waitresses (Cora) provide great service and make fantastic drinks and my vodka soda was the only thing that permitted me to partially enjoy my meal. If this establishment wants to survive, they must improve the quality of the food and ensure consistency.
This is our second visit to this local outdoor venue. Place is clean and staff was accommodating. Drinks very reasonable price especially with live music included.
On our first visit we shared the nachos and would order again. The life music played went from rock to blues loved it
On our second visit my wife got the Salmon stuffed with crabmeat. Which has a very enjoyable taste to it sausce on the side would have been nice... Broccoli side was nicely prepared as well. I ordered the seafood lasagna. It was fine but nothing stood out. This night the band they featured played more rock ballads than other choices.
We will be back for another date night. The pizza and burgers looked yummy..... that's our next order.
Great location with an outside tiki bar. Food and service are outstanding. Live music most nights. New menu is fantastic.
Went to Winstons last Saturday night to get some dinner with friends and watch some live music. Been a couple of other times over the past year or so and I have to say we were pretty disappointed, especially when we have seen it much better in the recent past. I got the Special Burger for St paddys which was supposed to be a 1/2# patty with Corned Beef and Swiss done MR. Sounded great, I was picturing a thick "bar" type burger. What I ended up getting was a burger absolutely sat on which dried it out and it was beyond well done. It appeared to be a frozen patty, more likely to have been a 1/4 pre-cooked. I let the server know and she immediately had it re-made and the refire came out very quickly and it was actually more done than the 1st one. So, I gave up on that and got the CB and Cabbage special. I ended up eating it as the rest of my party already ate, but it was super bland. Usually CB is salty and a bit of fat. No flavor and about 1/2 head of soggy cabbage. I ate what I could stomach and left the rest.
The wife got the "Margarita" Flatbread. Again, super weak. Pizza dough with canned sauce and a ton of sliced processed mozz. No basil or tomato as would be expected on a Margarita Pizza. She ate about 1/3 of it as she did not want to send it back.
Band was fun. Impressed that they did not use an ipad to read the lyrics. interactive and engaging.
All in all, we will give it 1 more shot as it was good in the past and it is close to home and we do like the venue and live music.
I know they can do better as they have!
Most folks know me for my photos of great meals, and positive experiences at restaurants. But this had to be some of the worst of all in some time. Our friends suggest this place as they have an outside band and we always enjoy music when we are out at dinner. But tonight was a little chilly so we eat inside where they were having a 70 themed dinning. We agreed as it was cold outside we would pay the minimum 30 per person min spend.
The wait staff was very inexperienced and could not get most things right. we had to continue to ask for anything. refills, on both soft drinks and alcohol. We started with the Pizza and Ahi tuna apps. Pizza was ok and tuna was better. then we ordered our main dishes which when came out they came out one at a time. 4 of the 6 of us received our meals and they put the wrong meal in front of my friend and told him it was what he ordered. which was incorrect. then two of the meals did not come out... we asked the food delivery person when he brought the 4th meal where are the other 2. he said he would check. 5 min went by nothing, so we called over the server and she went off and came back with it is on its way. 15 go by and I ask for the manager and she said she would check on the meals. Saw her bouncing around the restaurant but no meals. I called her back over and she said they are on the way.while she was there I showed her that my Med Rare burger was Med Well. She offered to replace it and I said it seems to take to long as our friends still did not receive there meal. She offered up that she would remove the burger from the bill. after 25 minutes our friends pasta and tuna burger arrived. fast forward tothe check. the server decided to Chop up the bills Into three no one asked her to do that, and she put random items on each of our checks. not what we eat but something on each check. Then the managers boss came over when I Pointed out that the meal the other manager said was to be at no charge and they charged me for it. He then went into a hole argument and I was in no mood so I handed the young lady my card and paid. The manager was clearly not respectful at all and I told him to forget about the issue and we would never be back. We went outside after to listen to the band by the tiki bar which saved the evening. But will never eat here again and you should be aware of the bad service.
our group of over 25 people go there at least once a month not only for the food but for the entertainment provided by Jimmy and the can't stop the music group. We had a reservation for a birthday party made a month ago for Nov. 18th 2023, along with an unknown other group. the other group did not want to have music so the owners cancelled our reservation at the last minute. this cancellation left our group scurrying to find another venue to have the birthday party. Winston's was being penny wise and pound foolish. we supported the new owners when they took over the restaurant but because of their greed and we will NEVER GO THER again
Great service, and the apple pie in a jar is a must try! The only thing holding me back from a 5 star is I would love to see another vegetarian or pescatarian offering on the menu, but the kale salad is so good I have enjoyed it on multiple occasions:)
Lunch the first time was the worst hamburger ever, the wings are good unfortunately the pizza taste like garlic…ewww
The dinners look so appetizing on the menu but, geeeze the chef is horrible…if they could get a chef that knows how to prepare the entree’s the way he visions them I would have dinner there 3 times a week.
The staff is great but really? Why in the world is the chef hanging out in the dining room? With the quality of food that’s coming out of the kitchen you would think he. Would be back there!
The owners are trying there best unfortunately they have little experience in the industry….The music is sometimes ok, but we all know musicians like to play for themselves, more cover songs to dance to would be great…BUT…. Please get rid of that lousy short order cook they call a chef!!!!!!
